Job Purpose

The main purpose of the role  is to direct efforts to achieve sales and 6Ps goals in Vet and Pet Channel in the assigned region (Northern UK - West & East Scotland, North Midlands) in accordance with Retail Environment Strategy and 6Ps plans, effectively implement Coverage Plan and execution with Commercial Plans.  Coach, develop and lead performance of  Territory Managers. Represent  Hill’s as the strategic partner of choice in small animal nutrition to Customers and bring Vet and Pet Channel Perspective into Country Commercial Process. Ensure implementation of “Developing our Customer” approach by all territory managers.

 

What you will do:

  • Definition of Priorities/Goals for TMs’ team, in alignment with Regional/Local priorities.
  • Ensure execution with excellence of local 6Ps plans, 
  • Supervise the achievements of team members on sales and 6Ps plans; report to Country CD Manager on a weekly basis.
  • Participate in Country Commercial Planning Process; keep ongoing two/ways communication with country marketing & PVA department to provide feedback on Hill’s commercial initiatives and insights on competitors’ activities
  • Conduct effective and professional business meetings.
  • Own an agreed commercial regional budget to drive sales and recommendation.
  • Stay ahead of trends in the  trade; represent Hill’s as the strategic partner of choice with Customers; participate in Vet Congresses, Conferences and Pet Fair or Exhibition.
  • Ensure Distribution Policy implementation and compliance to Commercial Selling Principles 
  • Ensure compliance by the teams with all administrative policies and procedures, such as call reporting, expense management, car policy, and code of conduct.
  • Ensure PM&D formal process within TMs team; mentor and train on the job TMs team to develop performance; develop, prepare and implement plans for remedial action with teams and individuals where necessary. Formalize duo days feed-back in adequate coaching form.
  • Manage local Small Key Account and Wholesalers: lead or support annual negotiation with TM, implement agreed Joint Business Plan and supervise investments 

 

Qualifications and Key Competencies:

  • Relevant Qualification in Business or commercial field
  • At least 3 years experience in Customer Development/Sales 
  • Experience in Field Sales leadership
  • Proven track of successful commercial skills
  • Knowledge of Pet Food Specialty Channels / Vet pharmaceutical market would be an advantage
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Communication & negotiation skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Used to work under pressure and strong focus on achieving the agreed targets, innovative
  • Continuous improvement approach
