The Trademark Operations Counsel is responsible for managing all aspects of Trademark Operations including coordinating, reviewing and supplying recommendations and draft reports to the Chief Trademark Counsel, Senior Trademark & Marketing Counsel, and Trademark & Marketing Counsel with regard to trademark screens, full searches, application filing programs, and renewals globally.  


This role will be responsible for:
●    Communicating with business and legal team members on trademark clearance projects/results
●    Implementing trademark filing, prosecution, and maintenance/renewal projects after consultation
●    Managing a broad range of trademark oppositions, conflicts, enforcement activities, litigations takedown requests and UDRP proceedings, and negotiating and finalizing coexistence and settlement agreements 
●    Providing substantive trademark support and coordination to the Brand Protection Unit
●    Managing outside counsel, United Lex and other key vendor relationships
●    Assisting the Chief Trademark Counsel in managing the overall department budget
●    Managing the trademark clearance and application request process and overseeing the annual renewal process
●    Identifying, developing, and implementing process and system improvements and cost-savings projects, including improving workflow and collaboration within the department, the broader legal organization and with client groups, and evolving/enhancing TCAR and WebTMS
●    Reviewing and approving department bills
●    Ensuring the integrity of the trademark portfolio and trademark dispute databases
●    Undertaking data audits, as needed
●    Providing substantive legal support for overflow projects assigned by the Chief Trademark Counsel, Senior Trademark & Marketing Counsel, and Trademark & Marketing Counsel

Qualifications & Skills:  
•    Undergraduate and JD degrees required
•    Bar Admission required
•    Minimum of 5-9 years legal experience required in a law firm or in-house 
•    Background in trademark law with experience managing large scale portfolio’s globally required
•    Litigation experience a plus
•    Strong drafting, negotiation, critical thinking and strong analytical skills required
•    Ability to communicate effectively, including communicating complicated legal concepts in a way that is understandable for business people 
•    Self-starter, ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a timely manner.  
•    Proactively enhance technical expertise by attending external training and reading current legal materials.
•    Knowledge of consumer products business is a plus.  
•    Ability to work effectively in a remote environment when necessary. 
•    Very strong people and leadership skills – ability to influence others with tact and diplomacy.
•    Ability to provide practical, business focused advice.
•    Process-oriented with strong organizational skills but also flexible.
