Colgate-Palmolive is a caring, innovative growth company reimagining a healthier future for all people, their pets and our planet. The Senior Specialist, Corporate Purpose Communications has a dual role to help fulfill this purpose:

Public Relations Specialist
First, the candidate is responsible for creating an impact with the Company’s priority stakeholders (notably, the media) by communicating our purpose through public relations tactics – with a keen eye to conveying the  “innovative growth” prong within our purpose-filled story. The individual is an exceptional storyteller and executor: they are ready and excited to deliver proven PR results (read: press clips) and increase Colgate’s presence in the public eye.

The Senior Specialist will come to this role with exceptional writing skills, experience developing external and internal communications plans and a track record of successful media placements that they conceived, pitched, prepared for and secured. They will also be able to craft content beyond the earned channel to also populate the Company’s paid and owned channels – including news stories for The Feed (Colgate’s owned newsroom), social posts for C-suite executives, speeches, Q&As, and letters.

This is a highly influential role that requires someone who is creative and curious, a storyteller who can package news for digital, video, written platforms, is well organized, and able to juggle multiple projects and competing priorities.

Curiosity and Passion for Innovation
Second, the candidate will have a passion for innovation (think: Digital, Data & Analytics, R&D, Global IT and Global Supply Chain -- in addition to brand and product innovation), and will serve as Colgate’s storyteller to shed light on these important areas.

The Senior Specialist will create impactful global corporate programs and mine for innovation-related stories, supporting and communicating Colgate People’s work in this area. They will work closely with our Group President, Growth & Strategy; Chief Technology Officer; Chief Digital Officer; Chief Analytics & Insights Officer; Chief Clinical Officer; Chief Information Officer; and Chief Global Supply Chain Officer – supporting them, their communications and their teams’ actions and accomplishments. To do so, the successful candidate will be a passionate learner, mining stories and telling them in unique and interesting ways for different audiences across various channels in order to create the purpose-filled impact the Company seeks to make in the world

The Senior Specialist, Corporate Purpose Communications is a key Colgate storyteller and PR guru. Functional competencies required to fulfill the role include:

●    Cultivate Trust: Support the Chief Communications Officer to execute Colgate’s corporate communication strategy that reaches key stakeholders —notably the media — with priority messages that help the Company grow, and build trust with C-suite leaders to advise and guide their communications strategies

●    Take Ownership: Key components of Innovation including the Technology, Digital, Analytics & Insights, Global Supply Chain, and Enterprise Oral Care functions. The Senior Specialist serves as the single point of accountability to communicate the work of those functions. He/she owns and drives a communications strategy that not only supports the communications needs of the leaders of those functions– but also the Company’s growth objectives related to those functions

●    Take Ownership: The candidate cultivates media relationships and creates and executes pitches needed to win with public relations: he/she is able to deliver PR results as an internal PR expert and is also able to clearly guide and closely manage a PR agency to drive results.

●    Courageously Change: The impactful results the Senior Specialist delivers include enhanced press coverage for the Company's caring, innovative growth story first and foremost, in addition to securing strategic opportunities to communicate our company’s key messages such as speaking opportunities and awards.

●    Pursue Curiosity: Additionally, the Senior Specialist creates innovation-focused content for the Company's paid, owned and earned channels to ensure we are constantly marketing our own efforts to our stakeholders.

●    Grow Together: The Senior Specialist collaborates to create innovation-related content in partnership with the Associate Manager, Social & Digital and the Manager, Global Corporate Communications – who is responsible for editorial content from our senior executives.
