The Payroll  internship is located at our headquarters in New York City. The Payroll Intern’s responsibilities will include contributing to various elements of the payroll operation and assisting with account reconciliation. They will work under the guidance of and report to the Sr Payroll Tax Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assistance in gathering SUI rate notices and updating control logs. 

  • Perform periodic,quarterly audits and  tax reconciliations.

  • Assistance with obtaining POA’s.

  • Provide assistance in addressing agency notices including conducting research and compiling support documentation. 

  • Assist in cleanup efforts of state agency online access 

  • Proactively identify process improvements within the departmental processing workflow.

  • Handling of incoming mail, scanning, and uploading documents to designated parties.

  • Provide support for ad hoc projects and assignments. 

  • Work on an Action Learning Project (ALP) to be assigned at the beginning of the internship and present results at the end of the internship

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting,  Finance or Business preferred

  • Experience in payroll accounting preferred 

  • A fundamental understanding of payroll, GL, audit, and tax knowledge 

  • strong knowledge of payroll tax laws including federal, state and local regulation, is preferred, it is not mandatory

  • Proficiency in computer skills, with strong command of Excel, MS word, and Google Sheets required. 

  • Ability to work under pressure demonstrating high commitment to Payroll and financial reporting deadlines

  • Ability to proactively identify process improvements within the dept workflow cycle

  • Familiarity with Dayforce system is preferred 

  • Audit acumen is preferred 

 

Compensation

Salary Range $21.00 - $22.50 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location.
