Colgate-Palmolive is recruiting qualified candidates for the role of NA Payroll Manager/Associate Manager. This important role who will be part of the Payroll Center of Excellence, supported by Colgate Business Services.  This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely statutory filings, proper handling of agency notices, and review and analysis of employee tax withholdings for the North America business.  In addition, this position will  monitor changes to tax regulations,  provide support to the company's global equity compensation program, and lead process improvement initiatives.

 

Position Overview:

 

This position is a hybrid role with both in-office and remote work.  Position responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following areas:

 

*Ensure compliance for payroll tax withholdings for employees including:

  • Federal, state, local tax withholdings
  • Non-resident alien, review visa documentation for tax exemption
  • Multi Jurisdiction review

*Facilitate the proper taxation of cash and non-cash fringe benefits (gifts, tuition assistance, car allowances, child care benefits etc.);Oversee payroll updates for employee disability, NYSIF reporting, review and payments;

*Audit employee tax withholdings for semi-monthly payroll;

*Review employee live/work status and identify potential issues;

*Review and reconcile tax returns prepared and filed by third party vendor;

*Work with third-party vendors to ensure amendments are filed timely and accurately;

*Provide support to the GL team in reconciling tax items;

*Responsible for quarterly and year-end tax activities, W2 Review, analyzing W2C requests and third party review, year end special processing and 1099 preparation;

*Oversee the agency notice process, maintain website logins, ensure payments are made on a timely basis and conduct root cause analysis to minimize future assessments;

*Authorize tax payments from third-party vendors to agencies and code appropriately;

*Liaise with Federal/State/Local agencies as necessary;

*Partner with third-party vendors to ensure competitive unemployment rates and ensure rates are updated timely in the Ceridian Dayforce system;

*Work with third-party payroll vendors to establish new registrations for state and local jurisdictions by legal entity;

*Provide reports and analysis for audits and business partner requests (workmen's comp, tax credits, ad hoc requests);

*Spport tax projects including new acquisition integration;

*Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process;

*Partner with the Payroll team, Treasury, Corporate Tax, IT, Global Mobility, third-party payroll providers and government agencies to ensure tax compliance;

*Provide guidance and expertise in setting up the proper taxation of various deductions and pay types;

*Monitor changes to tax regulations to ensure compliance and make appropriate updates to policies and strategies.

 

Position Requirements:

 

*Bachelor's degree required;

*Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in payroll tax;

*Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills;

*Excellent written and oral communication skills;

*Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance and procedures for corporations;

*Familiarity with U.S. federal, state and local reporting requirements;

*Ability to work well independently as well as with other stakeholders;

*Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills;

*Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize tasks.

 

 

Salary Range:  $ 107,760 - $158,445 USD

Pay is based on several non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location.  In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
