Colgate-Palmolive Company welcomes applications for an internship opportunity in our North America Finance Organization in the US Financial Reporting & Consolidations group. This position is based in our New York, Park Avenue Headquarters location.  

This internship is designed to provide students with practical, hands-on experience and exposure to Colgate’s commercial finance processes and activities while at the same time working on day-to-day activities and projects that are important to the needs of our US daily operations.  During the internship, students will work on various financial activities and also have the opportunity to meet with members of our Divisional/Financial Senior Management Teams and learn about Colgate Palmolive’s overall business.

We are looking for candidates who show great aptitude/willingness to learn quickly on the job, demonstrate strong analytical skills, have the ability to multi-task, have the flexibility to manage a variety of responsibilities that may change frequently and who can think creatively to generate ideas that will improve efficiencies in our Finance function.  The specific responsibilities for this internship opportunity are outlined below. 

 

Budget and Planning Intern (Non Variable Overheads)

Provides excellent exposure to various aspects of the financial accounting and consolidation areas, including working with systems such as SAP and BI (Business Intelligence), getting exposure to Colgate’s internal financial reporting  processes and controls and liaising with cross functional Teams (Marketing, Sales, etc.) as well as key business partners in Colgate’s Mexico and Mumbai Business Services Centers.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Analyze/Prepare year to date account spend vs. the Budget and follow up with the Teams on risk/opportunities.  

  • Coordinate with the Package Design and Marketing Teams to prepare/review packaging spend by project and analysis vs. the Budget.  

  • Assist in Budget/LE preparation and analysis vs. prior year/prior estimate.

  • Review/submit monthly journal entries.

  • Work on special projects as needed

  • Participate in key business meetings as appropriate/required

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program, with a business, accounting and/or finance concentration expecting to graduate after December 2021 

  • Approximate GPA of 3.0 or above

  • Must be available to work 20-24 hours a week during the school year and 30-35 hours a week during the summer

  • Very strong MS excel skills

  • Understanding of basic financial concepts
