The Director of Global Analytics Data Operations and Strategy will play a critical role in building and maintaining the next generation of analytics platforms at Colgate-Palmolive, aligning the enterprise-wide data strategy to business priorities. S/He will drive a strong partnership with the global IT organization to ensure effective data governance and to build and deploy impactful tools. S/He will oversee development of data pipelines and automation that directly support data scientists and analysts. As a key part of the Global Analytics leadership team, the Director will bring a multidisciplinary approach to this vital role, including a strong data engineering background, passion for data-driven culture, and exceptional EQ and communication skills.  

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a highly skilled team of analytics engineers.
  • Drive partnership and alignment with the IT organization, leveraging cross-functional resources to help execute the Global Analytics strategy.
  • Define and implement a data foundation roadmap that enables scaling of key analytics capabilities.
  • Focus on enhancing data availability, automation, and governance.
  • Interface with division analytics leads across the organization to ensure data platforms/tools are aligned with priority use cases.
  • Oversee data sourcing and ingestion, recommending solutions to improve new and existing data capabilities.
  • Oversee strategic data provider relationships, ensuring efficient data acquisition.
  • Develop standardized tools for global rollout.

 
Qualifications and Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred) in a relevant field or related discipline (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Management, etc.)
  • At least 10 years expertise in data engineering/analytics
  • At least 5 years experience of leading data engineering teams that have delivered business value (focus on applied vs. research setting)
  • Familiarity with data engineering tools for constructing and automating data pipelines and a clear understanding of the capabilities and limitations of various approaches/platforms (e.g. DBT, Airflow, Snowflake, Amundsen, BigQuery)
  • Experience navigating a large multinational public organization, preferably in the consumer goods space
  • Able to drive business value through effective communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure data capabilities
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to mentor, develop and lead teams towards meeting business objectives
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others building relationships with key stakeholders across the organization
  • Executive presence a must with ability to effectively communicate through verbal and written formats
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to take very technical concepts and translate to business value to various audiences
