Purpose of role:

The purpose of the audience lead role is to drive better business outcomes via improved targeting, tailored messaging and advertising impact. The Audience and data science lead is responsible for successful design and activation of audience targeting across Colgate brands, media agencies & technology partners. The Audience Data Science Manager should be confident and experienced in working with large data sets and marketing technology platforms to complete deliverables at an industry-leading level of quality. They are expected to exhibit analytical rigor, thought leadership, and clear communication as well as to be capable of optimizing current efforts and bringing new insights through a mixture of innovation and broad, creative thinking.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and refresh applicable frameworks, methodologies and processes for precision audience identification and targeting, productive audience journeys, and content/message optimization within programmatic and other digital channels including display, online video, connected TV, social media, search, email, website,
  • Partner with relevant internal teams -- Insights, Analytics, Brand marketers -- to understand business goals and define the best growth opportunities at the head end and share impactful learning and insights from campaign activation on an ongoing basis
  • Collaborate with agency team (audience, activation, measurement) to activate, measure, optimize and scale audience tests.
  • Build audiences through hands-on-keyboard level interface to design experiments to evaluate audiences, message, channel and/or sequence of digital tactics.
  • Identify insights and communicate recommendations related to customer engagement and digital channels.
  • Outline standards and rules for data handling compliance at state (CCPA) and global (GDPR) levels.
  • Align and partner with Global Digital Organization, Global IT, Data Acquisition and Data Governance functions accordingly.

 

Required Background/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in data science, statistics, econometrics, or consumer science.
  • At least 5 years of full-time experience in digital marketing and analytics.
  • Experience working with data platforms to build, model, activate and optimize addressable audiences across channels and partners.
  • Experience and knowledge of sophisticated statistical models and methods and statistical design of experiments.
  • Experience measuring, mining and generating insights from digital customer engagement data within all digital channels, including website, paid media, social media and email campaign data sets.
  • Experience creating a single view of the customer across all digital customer engagement channels and impression history.
  • Optimization approach and expertise in channel digital media optimization as precision audience targeting models, paid search keyword and bidding optimization, social media audience bidding and optimization.
  • Willingness to have a point of view supported by insight and analytics and ability to influence cross-functional teams to impact decision-making.
  • Strategic business acumen, focus on results, passion for keeping up with media and technology trends.
  • Highly collaborative work style.
  • Proven strong communication and presentation skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in CPG.

 

Desired Skill Sets:

  • Expertise in multivariate content/messaging testing and optimization.
  • Familiarity with marketing mix modeling and multi-touch attribution models.
  • Familiarity with leading marketing technology, advanced analytics, and visualization platforms, such as Google Marketing Platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Marketing Cloud, Datorama, Tableau, Qlik.
