The Associate Manager, International Accounting supports financial reporting of the business through reconciling, analyzing and reporting financial statement information at a Division level.  This position is responsible for the maintenance of the consolidation application (BPC- CFN) and the implementation of all related projects, working in close collaboration with the GIT Team. 


What you will do:



  • Ensure the accounting and reporting of the Division’s results are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Colgate Financial Policies (CFP’s);
  • Review Divisional Financial Statements;
  • Conduct analytical review of financial statement trends:  Income Statement (Other Expense/Income, Tax provision, etc.), Balance Sheet (Accounts Receivable, Inventory, CTA, etc.), Cash Flow Statement, and Key Financial Ratios; 
  • Use experienced judgment to identify potential issues or errors, liaise with Divisional Finance Teams to understand business drivers of financial results and challenge explanations as needed;
  • Adjust financial statements for errors or recurring adjustments as needed.  Understand any requested adjustments and ensure all are appropriate and in accordance with GAAP;
  • Prepare reconciliation and analysis for consolidation of divisional Retained Earnings;
  • Prepare divisional analytical summaries of the Cash Flow Statement.  Strip out significant non-recurring or non-cash transactions from subsidiary Cash Flow Statements. Present results of review to Senior management and cross functional teams;
  • Own the preparation and distribution of Quarterly Closing letters, ensuring that any special accounting and/or  reporting instructions  are adequately addressed as needed.  Collaborate with other Finance teams, including the Financial Reporting and Corporate Tax teams, to ensure that instructions are complete;
  • Obtain divisional financial results confirmation on CFN reporting day from all divisions.  Keep and organize confirmation emails for SOX and PWC purposes;
  • Prepare and  present the internal closing & consolidation calendar (target dates) to all involved, keeping track of actual completion dates;
  • Issue and analyze the Worldwide Sales Growth Analysis report, ensuring numbers are accurate.  Identify and investigate any potential issues. Provide recommendation for resolution;
  • Run validation reports throughout  the quarterly consolidation of actual results,  to ensure the integrity of international submissions.  Collaborate with manager, colleagues and subsidiaries in order to identify and address validation errors.  Keep adequate documentation of validation reports for SOX and PWC purposes;
  • Provide WW reports (P&L and Balance Sheet) to PWC through Connect;
  • Identify and understand implications of currency fluctuations on business results;
  • Liaise with Financial Reporting to answer technical questions from the Global and Regional Colgate Business Service Centers, Divisions and Subsidiaries;
  • Provide support for Annual Budget/LE at Subsidiary & Division level submissions and consolidation in BPC-CFN, including: analytical review, Retained Earnings reconciliations, Cash Flow Strip-outs and any adjustments as needed;
  • Prepare and communicate reporting instructions for LEs and Budget submissions.



  • Prepare the beginning balance rollover for the CFN environment.  Review and validate beginning balances in LC and USD, documenting results of the review.  Escalate issues requiring beginning balance corrections;  
  • Coordinate the annual SOX testing requirement for Corporate & International Actg. Teams.  Run frequent status reports to ensure timely completion of all testing, address the need to change test ownership, etc. Complete own SOX testing;
  • Compile recommendations for edits and/or additions to CFPs.  Collaborate with the Financial Reporting Team in the execution of changes;
  • Twice per year, coordinate with CBS Teams and Corporate Tax, the preparation of MSA (Master Service Agreement) billouts to international countries, ensuring the; integrity of amounts billed.  Liaise with PWC on the preparation of their annual procedure letter related to this item;
  • Prepare and communicate the Annual Reporting schedule.



  • Lead all BPC-CFN related projects: system upgrades and optimizations, changes in reporting structure (combinations / individual submissions), new account testing, etc.;
  • Lead/participate in key departmental projects: efficiency enhancements, implementation of new accounting standards, changes in reporting, etc.


Requried Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher level degree required, preferably in Accounting;
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred;
  • At least 5-6 years of accounting experience;
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP required;
  • System and data analysis skills required;
  • Project Management skills required;
  • BPC working knowledge preferred.

Salary Range:  $ 107,760 - $141,435 USD

Pay is based on several non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location.  In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
