Colgate-Palmolive is seeking an Associate HR Legal Counsel to join our Corporate Legal team, reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Counsel. This role offers the opportunity to provide legal support on a variety of global employment law matters while partnering closely with Human Resources, People Relations, and Ethics & Compliance. This position is exciting because it allows you to navigate complex legal challenges within a global leader, working at the intersection of strategy and people. The single most important objective of this role is to provide business-oriented legal solutions that mitigate risk while supporting the effective implementation of HR policies and practices.
Responsibilities:

Conduct research on global employment law developments and monitor and provide updates and recommendations on impact of emerging laws on company operations

Draft and maintain employment-related policies and support their implementation and application

Create and present trainings on relevant aspects of employment law

Conduct factfinding and prepare written responses to administrative charges of discrimination/harassment/retaliation

Prepare employment-related agreements and individual consulting agreements

Serve as HR Legal liaison between HR and outside immigration counsel to address and escalate issues

Provide HR legal advice and support to HR, People Relations, Payroll, Benefits and Ethics & Compliance

Other HR legal related projects as needed
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate (J.D.)

3+ years’ law firm or in-house experience with employment law focus
-
New York State and/or New Jersey Bar admission or other State Bar admission with eligibility for New York State and/or New Jersey registration as in-house counsel (as applicable)

Experience managing internal and external relationships at all levels (e.g. attorneys, executives, administrative assistants, HR, and external agency / regulatory contacts)
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in traditional labor law and/or immigration law

Experience in the Consumer Prepared Goods (CPG) industry

Ability to influence clients and business partners by providing data-driven and business oriented Solutions

Some experience using generative AI tools (e.g. Gemini, ChatGBT) and up to date with law governing AI

Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g. NexisLexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law)
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $140,000.00 - $175,000.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
