Role Overview

As a Packaging Manager, you will be a key driver of Colgate’s "Funding the Growth" and "Sustainability" initiatives within the Indian market. You will bridge the gap between conceptual design and commercial reality, ensuring that our packaging is not only consumer-preferred but also environmentally responsible and cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities

1. Innovation & Consumer Experience - Oral Care & Personal Care

  • Execute the development of consumer-centric packaging formats that provide a competitive edge on the Indian shelf.

  • Translate consumer insights into technical packaging specifications for new launches and line extensions.

  • Stay ahead of local market trends and competitor moves to propose "next-gen" materials and designs.

2. Sustainability & Regulatory Compliance

  • Implement initiatives to meet Plastic Waste Management (PWM) rules and Colgate’s global sustainability agenda (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).

3. Commercialization & Quality Excellence

  • Lead the scale-up of packaging from pilot to mass production, mitigating risks and ensuring speed-to-market.

  • Apply KRS (key release specifications) and MTP (master test plan) protocols to ensure rigorous validation of all new packaging components.

  • Collaborate with Quality teams to perform root-cause analysis on any packaging-related defects or supply chain disruptions.

4. Funding the Growth

  • Identify and execute Value Engineering projects to optimize material costs without degrading brand quality or integrity.

  • Work with Procurement to standardize packaging components across the APAC region to leverage economies of scale.

 

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Marketing, Manufacturing/ Supply Chain, Procurement, and IGTC (R&D) teams to present, align packaging strategies with broader business goals and operational capabilities.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging, Material Science, or Engineering.

  • Experience: 7 years of hands-on experience in packaging within FMCG or Pharma.

  • Travel: Ability to travel 5–20% based on project needs

Preferred Skills

  • Project Management: Proven ability to lead complex projects from concept to shelf using structured PM tools.

  • People Leadership: Experience mentoring junior packaging engineers.

  • Communication: Strong ability to influence stakeholders
