What role will you play as a member of the Colgate's Information Technology team?

 

Data operations specialist is focused in maintaining/ supporting the data pipelines that have been created in Colgate and ensure that the health of the data is given the top most priority. The Data Ops Specialist should have an idea on how to support various data pipelines and other pipeline based tools also who enjoys optimizing data systems. You will support our software developers, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure efficient data delivery architecture. You must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. You will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company's datapipeline architecture to ensure the sanity and quality of data. This team is a group of innovators and technologists that love to learn and collaborate!
 

What you will do -
 

  • Supporting/ Monitoring all the existing data pipelines in the organization.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability, etc
  • Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across disciplines, departments, and segments
  • Create and update data pipeline documentation for the purposes of architectural governance and support
  • Assist in educating others on best practices surrounding data work (i.e. data modeling, database design, ETL design, job scheduling and monitoring, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

 

Required Qualifications -
 

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
  • Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and find opportunities for improvement
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets
  • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management
  • A successful history of harmonizing, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
  • Experience supporting and working with multi-functional teams in a dynamic environment

 

Preferred Qualifications -

 

  • Master's Degree Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field a plus
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases: MongoDB, Neo4j, etc
  • Experience with cloud services: GCP, AWS, etc
  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, etc.
  • Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
  • Experience with Data Flow, Data Pipeline and workflow management tools: Cloud Composer, Airflow, Luigi, etc.
