Job Summary: 
The Truckload Specialist manages the scheduling of all partial truckload orders for midsized customers. This role liaises with customers and Business Account Managers (BAMs) and allocates the volume and type of products that will be included in the shipment. To build efficient loads with multiple customers requires problem solving, research, proactive communication to create ongoing procurement and fulfillment for truckload orders (over 40,000 pounds). These complex orders are $100,000 and more in revenue. The Truckload Specialist facilitates these non-standard orders that cannot be transacted by a CBS hub. This role requires the ability to build strong customer relationships. This role must effectively communicate with supply chain, warehousing and fulfillment to execute orders within specific parameters; capturing revenue at quarter-end is critical to business success. A strong business acumen, basic accounting skills and the ability to reason through ever changing scenarios are necessities for this position.  

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maximizing customer orders and experiences by directing the truckload orders process, credits, customer communications and problem resolution. Oversees order management of all specific customer requirements; independently negotiating changes in delivery dates. Ensures weight and pallet configurations are met, apply stop-off charges and agreement of delivery days and times for up to four separate ship-to locations for shared truckloads.
  • Evaluates customer instocks and applies order management solutions to optimize truck weights and customer in stock positions with the available inventory. 
  • Negotiates directly with mid-size customers and BAMs to build the order, make substitutions and/or adjustments due to out-of-stock products to optimize orders. Critical to establish strong customer relationships, especially when orders cut, product mix is limited or delayed. 
  • Collaborates with CBS Order to Invoice team to harmonize and synchronize stock fulfillment processes across customers.  
  • Coordinates with all domestic replenishment specialists to achieve established fill rates; verify shipping dates and make accommodations for out of stock products with efficient use of resources. Collaborate across the total customer supply chain team on improvement initiatives which enhance the total customer experience. 
  • Attend daily CS&L morning meetings. Anticipating customer needs and requests in a timely and professional manner while establishing strong working relationships with BAMs, CS&L and CBS Planning teams and Finance team members. The Truckload Specialist is the key link to the customer experience. 
  • Executes customer shipments with transportation coordinators/ 3rd-party providers to minimize transportation cost and balance delivery requirements. Confirm that warehouses assign lane shipment details, create deliveries and shipment numbers on upcoming orders/deliveries to optimize cost effectiveness. Schedule vendor appointments for delivery dates and times through contract administration. 
  • Ensure accuracy of billing and mailing/transmissions of invoices, process return goods authorization ensuring complete documentation is available to support the requests while working within the parameters of each vendors’ requirements on processing their returns.


Education/ Experience Requirements

Basic qualifications include:  
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain/Logistics, business management, accounting or related degree 
One or more year of logistics planning, analytics or progressively complex customer service/order management experience
Ability to work a flexible shift, with extended availability for quarter-end and end-year scheduling needs
Proficient use of computers, such as Google suite and Microsoft Excel, SAP R/3/C4C or other order management systems 
Ability to converse with customers and internal business colleagues while capturing information into computer systems


Preferred qualifications include: 

  • Experience in customer service, warehousing and logistics


Expected Areas of Skills 

-Manage partial-truck processes by prioritizing and modifying customer orders to cube trucks based on volume of orders, location and timing
-Negotiate with customers and work with BAMs to modify orders based on space and availability of products
-Be proficient in understanding transportation for load management and carrier scheduling
-Be a subject matter expert of order managements systems, with a strong working knowledge of SAP and CRM systems
-Identify process improvements to streamline process and better serve customers
-Execute a professional customer service experience
-Have the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
-Demonstrate strong communications skills (written/verbal)
-Ability to negotiate with customer and internal business account managers
