We are looking for a working student (f/m/d) to help coordinate efforts around sustainability, specifically the “European Green Deal” and it’s related initiatives in the realm of product, communication and packaging. This role is at the intersection of Colgate’s sustainability strategy and our brands in Europe.
For 2025, you will interact with various Subject Matter Experts from different Colgate functions and their extended teams to support sustainability projects to get ready for Europe’s sustainable vision of the future. You will also help map out and accelerate the journey towards sustainable innovation on a brand level.
More specifically:
- Product Sustainability
With our Colgate products we reach more households than any other brand in the world. That means that they are crucial in helping millions of homes to make more sustainable choices and create sustainable habits. To progress in our product sustainability journey, we need your support in collecting sustainability relevant data to analyze the sustainability profile through LCA based tools and work with our cross-functional team to improve footprint. This will help us to get ready for upcoming Ecodesign and Green Claims directives.
- Packaging
By the end of 2025 we aim for all of our packaging to be recyclable, reusable or compostable and we strive to eliminate ⅓ of virgin plastic. To further continue our packaging sustainability journey and to get ready for the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, you can help us to dig deeper into our current packaging portfolio and identify further opportunities to reduce, reuse and recycle.
- Communication
We have high standards for the claims we make for our products. Through “Empowering Consumers in the Green Transition” and the upcoming “Green Claims Directive” we now get concrete guidelines on how we can engage customers and consumers on sustainability. You can support this communication strategy and claim substantiation.
- Digitalisation
We want to make sure that people have all the information they need to use our products safely and to dispose of waste responsibly. You can help us to get ready for Digital Product Passports.
- Best Practice Sharing
We want to learn from you! What best practices do you see out there and how can we get better and more sustainable every day?
Your main responsibilities include:
- Engage with experts and data owners across Colgate to collect Lifecycle Analyses Data
- Support the digitalisation of product sustainability data, e.g. linked to the Digital Product Passport and data infrastructure.
- Engage with the European brand teams to identify communication opportunities and best practices for consumer brands
- Work with Colgate-Palmolive experts from different business functions and get involved with EU Green Deal projects
This project will also benefit you by:
- Developing an understanding of applied sustainability management and digitization in a corporate environment.
- Learn about cross-functional approaches and how sustainability integrates into our processes and systems
- Facilitating opportunities to meet with functional leaders in sustainability
Qualification / requirements:
- Ongoing studies in a Master’s degree program in the following disciplines: Sustainability Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Packaging Engineering
- Authorization to work in Germany for the duration of the assignment
- An academic background in sustainability, business management, environmental science, supply chain sustainability, packaging sustainability or a related field
- Ability to link technical sustainability and business management knowledge to meet the tactical needs of the business environment
- A general understanding of Sustainability Regulations and Life Cycle Analyses
- Data Savvy and quantitative skills (as a plus)
- Knowledge of specific Sustainability frameworks such as circular economy, life cycle perspective and sustainability regulation (as a plus)
