Job Purpose
To deliver budgeted sales, profit growth, & share, whilst developing the day to day partnership between Colgate Palmolive and Tesco Ireland, within a sustainable, mutually profitable business model.
Main Responsibilities:
External:
- Build strong external networks with the Buyers/Buying Manager to raise the profile, business focus and support for Colgate within this customer.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the Irish Market, competitor landscape and customer strategy, and their shopper to demonstrate how Tesco can win & Colgate Palmolive can optimise their brands within this environment.
- Develop and gain approval from the Customer Development Director UK and other members of the UK Commercial team for a 24 month plan for Tesco Ireland.
- Demonstrate commercial acumen in interrogating the business, in order to swiftly identify issues and opportunities for resolution/optimisation gaining buy-in from the Tesco buyers.
- Lead a tri-way relationship with Dunnhumby Ireland, Tesco Ireland and Colgate Palmolive – under the strategy and authority set by the Customer Development Director (UKi) incorporating support from UK Category Management and UK Shopper Marketing teams where required.
- Work closely with Colgate Palmolive UK team and align all plans with cross functional teams based in the UK
- Share market intelligence from DH / Kantar etc with Tesco Ireland to continue to own the conversation
Internal:
- Deliver monthly, quarterly and annual net sales/margin/profit targets by developing, aligning & implementing commercial plans set by the Customer Development Director UK and aligned to Tesco strategy and the wider Irish Market working under the guidelines and authorities of the UK Retail Marketing and Customer Development Team Leads
- Remain fully connected & aligned with Colgate Palmolive UK to ensure full understanding of Irish market trends and implications for Tesco’s competitors.
- Ensure totally connected with the Tesco UK team to ensure fully conversant on UK terms & challenges and anticipate implications in the wider Irish market.
- Be a full member of the UK & Ireland Tesco Team, attend meetings when/where appropriate.
- Undertake appropriate analytics to understand Tesco Ireland performance and necessary course correction plans working in conjunction with Ireland MS&P & Category Manager to analyse Colgate and deploy optimum and sustainable promotional plan.
- Work with Shopper Development Manager on in-store activation opportunities
- Accurately forecast volume/sales/investment through effective 5P planning and clear identification of risks and opportunities on a monthly cycle
- Ensure the adoption of customer plans into the SAP system, to include volume and pricing conditions for all baseline and promotional events to meet the Monthly Discipline timelines.
- To be responsible for the smooth operation of invoice processing, tracking and resolution of outstanding issues in collaboration with the CBS including margin reconciliations
- To provide regular business updates to UK team, and provide recommendations to grow key metrics faster

- Prioritise and respond to a large number shifting requests, whilst aligning the CP UK business and Irish team for any appropriate changes.
- Develop excellent working relationships with Tesco Ireland to ensure we are the ‘go to’ Dental & Washing & Bathe supplier
- Review ongoing investment model to ensure optimum sales & margin plan
