Job Summary

The purpose of the job is to provide support to the Plant Quality Team by completing quality-related tasks in respect to the testing of inbound raw materials, the sampling and testing of in-process finished goods, compositing finished product samples for microbiological testing, recording and organizing data. Meet objectives established to achieve Key Performance Indicators and fulfill internal and external regulatory requirements.  Continuously improve processes and procedures to further quality initiatives across the facility.  Identify and report Food Safety issues to management.  Understand and comply with Hill’s policies, safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety. 

 

Sign On Bonus:

  • After 90 days,  $500 Dollars;

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete routine analytical chemical testing while maintaining good laboratory practices and working safely. Analyze ingredients and finished products for the analytes specified in the product or ingredient specification utilizing approved lab methods.

  • Provide assistance for the following programs to ensure timely completion and accurate documentation:  Lab Equipment Calibration and Verification programs, Check Sample programs, IQ/OQ/PQ documents, Laboratory Training program, Lab Audit Checklist/Quality Practices, Laboratory Safety Audit, Laboratory Sanitation, and Retention program of ingredients and finished products. 

  • Organize data and results of finished product analytical and Positive Release programs to facilitate timely release of product in compliance with the finished product release SOP. 

  • Maintain reference samples for all finished products , ingredients and conduct finished product packaging testing as required.

  • Assist with completion of non-conformances, deviations and waivers as required

 

Education/ Experience Requirements

  • Required

  • HS Diploma or equivalent 

  • 1 + year practical working experience with Good Laboratory Practices, including general understanding of safe laboratory procedures.

  • Ability to provide support on all shifts, including nights and weekends as needed

 

Preferred

  • Bachelors of Science in Chemistry, Biology or other science related field. 

  • 1+ year of previous quality/food science experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Prior work experience in a college level laboratory or a Co-op or intern experience in a lab.

  • Familiarity with lab "testing" and/or microbial testing procedure.

  • Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes, such as hot to cold, dust, dirt and chemicals.

  • Standing on a concrete floor

  • Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, beard net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes and uniform)






 

 Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $17.85  - $21.00 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements

  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
