The Maintenance & Reliability Planner will interact directly with the Reliability Business Unit Leads to provide administrative, organization, and planning support to the maintenance functions of the facility by ensuring the effective scheduling of maintenance work orders and preventative maintenance (PM) plans as well as coordinating materials availability to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. The Maintenance Planner is also responsible for planning and coordinating the maintenance activities for designated areas of the plant. The position will also be responsible for maintaining the in-house systems and managing the work order process. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Manages and maintains the in-house system. Responsible for creating and maintaining equipment masters, equipment BOMs, spare parts lists, and developing plans for Smart Maintenance activities per vendor recommendation or business need. Functions as an SAP power user and assists in training and support of SAP systems when/as needed. Note that a portion of the administrative side for this responsibility may also be supported by a third-party vendor.

  • Responsible for detailed scheduling of Maintenance activities. Works closely with Reliability Business Unit Leads and Operations to review, prioritize, and schedule work orders, and Smart Maintenance activities – eventually utilizing SAP software. Schedules work orders for maintenance technicians and outside contractors as managed through a detailed plan. 

  • Utilize technologies to predict or prescribe required maintenance activities.

  • Coordinate effective PM execution. Attends plant meetings, as appropriate, to receive updates/provide feedback on plans, communicate work schedules, and lead review of open work orders.

  • Owns portions of services and repair budgets and therefor handles purchase order creation, any invoicing or finance issues, and manages services and repair templates.

  • Works closely with maintenance tech, area leaders, team leaders, focus resources, engineers, and operation technicians with root cause analysis to identify reasons for equipment failures.

  • Works closely with parts and material resource to ensure availability of incoming and outgoing maintenance parts for PM’s, rebuilds, work orders and storeroom.

  • Identifies and reports Food Safety and EOHS issues/work orders to management through a weekly report. Understands and complies with Hill’s policies, safety standards, good manufacturing practices (GMP) and food safety. Identify and report food safety issues to management.

 

Expected Areas of Skills

  • Knowledge of FP&R Standards, specifically PM, CI, 5S, and AM Standard

  • Assists with root cause analysis to identify reasons for equipment failures

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Proficient knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s, and SPC

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties

  • Excellent attention to detail

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience or technical degree with minimum 3 years maintenance experience

  • Proficient with an office suite software for business such as: Microsoft (work, excel, power point) or Google (docs, sheets, slides) and email (Outlook, Google Mail, Lotus notes)

  • Industrial equipment-related and technical expertise to troubleshoot technical issues, determine root cause and provide guidance on improving preventative maintenance activities.

  • Electronic Maintenance work order system experience.

  • Ability to bend, climb, and work in confined spaces, and work in hazardous condition spaces for up to twelve hours per day.

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions with temperature ranges from cold to hot and humid.

  • Ability to use hazardous materials.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a continual basis

  • Ability to wear all required Fall Protection Equipment and all required PPE 

  • Complete tasks that require working with hands overhead

  • Forklift experience

  • Using computer keyboard up to 12 hours per day

  • Walk unlimited distances each day

  • Climbing ladders

  • Walking up and down multiple levels of steps, multiple times per day while carrying tool bag, materials, and other supplies.

  • Frequently bending at waist and flex at knees 120 degrees.

  • Receive and transmit information in person and by telephone communications.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Previous SAP-PM-EAM experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Technical degree in relevant or related field

 Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $28.05  - $33.00 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.

  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
