Our PCV’s work ensures that Hill’s is known as a scientific, innovative, and credible partner that is engaged with veterinary and pet care professionals to transform the lives of dogs and cats through superior nutrition. 

 

The Professional Consulting Veterinarian (PCV) is part of the U.S. Customer Development Organization team responsible for relationship building, education, and influence of veterinary and pet retail customers.  These include veterinary specialists, general practitioners, members of the veterinary healthcare team, Key Thought Leaders in the veterinary profession, academic administrators, faculty, residents, interns, and students, leaders of veterinary professional organizations, and pet retailers.  This role also provides support for the sales districts by delivering internal education to sales Territory Managers, providing external education and training to pet and veterinary customers, and supporting customer initiatives. The PCV works closely with the District Manager in their assigned district to identify business needs and implement strategies. 

 

We invite you to apply for the position of Professional Consulting Veterinarian based out of your home office in or near Charlotte, North Carolina covering from Asheville, NC to Raleigh, NC, and south to include all of South Carolina. This position also supports Lincoln Memorial University. Overnight travel is required, with an average of 2 nights per week, but will vary week to week.


  
Principal Duties and Responsibilities


Key Thought Leaders, Specialty Hospitals, and Colleges of Veterinary Medicine

  • Establish influential relationships with Key Thought Leaders in specialty hospitals and academia.  Identify opportunities to deliver relevant continuing education and engage KTLs in Hills’ initiatives. Promote active recommendation and endorsement of Hill’s products.
  • Call on specialty hospital customers in assigned geography with appropriate frequency, in person and/or virtually, based on tier. Educate and implement initiatives resulting in partnerships and protocols that include an active Hill’s recommendation from the veterinary healthcare team. Increase Hill’s sales and market share with assigned specialty hospital customers.
  • Engage with assigned College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) faculty, interns, residents and  students. Provide education on clinical nutrition and Hill’s products, improving nutritional competence and influencing active recommendation of Hill’s products. Build relationships with administrators and key staff to establish Hill’s as a valuable and trusted partner. 
  • Work with Hill’s Student Representatives to identify and coordinate opportunities to create a positive presence in veterinary schools, and to encourage the use of Hill’s products through the VIP Market program. 


District Support 

  • Partner with the District team to increase sales and market share to establish Hill’s as the preferred partner with pet retail and veterinary healthcare teams, to help achieve district performance goals. Deliver appropriate education,  technical coaching, and training to meet customer needs.
  • Effectively utilize digital tools to improve educational reach and influence. 
  • Support Territory Managers’ technical, nutritional, and product expertise with education and training during district meetings, conference calls, and while working together in person and/or virtually.
  • Work closely with the District Manager to identify and prioritize business needs and implement strategies to earn the Hill's recommendation. Help to plan and participate in district customer events that will increase product sales and market share. 


Regional, National, and Corporate Activities

  • Represent Hill’s at assigned regional and national veterinary conferences and strategic corporate customer meetings. 
  • Develop working relationships with local and regional veterinary associations to identify, target and prioritize opportunities that support Hill’s strategies.
  • Partner with US Marketing and Retail Marketing teams to provide customer insight and technical support for Hill’s products and programs.
  • Serve on project teams, deliver webinars, and support Hill’s customer tours as assigned.

 

 

Basic qualifications

 

  • Professional degree in veterinary medicine (DVM, VMD or equivalent)  
  • 4+ years clinical practice experience required; current, active license to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license with no moving violations.
  • Able to work independently to manage a demanding schedule with irregular hours and to manage travel within geography/region.
  • Able to fulfill travel requirements of the position (on average 2 nights per week, but will vary).
