Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Business Account Manager (BAM) is primarily responsible for customizing and implementing Hill's Retail

Environment & brand strategies to grow market share and associate brand recommendation within the customer base. This position develops and implements customer specific 6P plans to achieve the Hill's commercial goals of net sales, share, margin, while spending within GTN guidelines. As a BAM for Hill's Pet Nutrition, you will assume headquarter customer management responsibilities to include Blain Supply and Mill Fleet Farms. The position will be based from your home office in or near Milwaulkee, Wisconsin and will involve approximately 35-40% travel.

A Business Account Manager will apply current business trends, Hill's corporate strategies, customer strategies, Category/shopper insights, and post analysis of performed activities in plan development. A BAM is responsible for establishing relationships at all levels at the customer via direct communication, business presentations and frequent interaction with the customer key contacts.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, completes and supervises 6P plans versus the goal
  • Drives 6P plans and responds to customer requests during regularly scheduled meetings with each customer (minimum (1) per month
  • Updates Colgate Business Planner to reflect baseline sales and promotion plans. Leads customer payments
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with both the customer and internal commercial teams — Marketing, Supply Chain, and Store Operations
  • Develops and maintains process and plan to analyze each customers' business. Reviews current business trends, shopper insights, and learning's from post analysis of completed activities into strategic 6P plan.
  • Implements shopper programs with Hill's Shopper Marketing, demonstrating Hill's brand strategies to drive incremental retail sales
  • Develops and performs customer specific annual strategic plan and initiatives to achieve the commercial goals. Engages customer on category growth expectations.
  • Performs Hill's retail environment and brand strategy with Hill's BDM & Retail Marketing team
  • Drives forward actions in monthly customer planning meetings to review actuals plus plan-to-go with manager, BDM & Finance

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree or higher
  • 3+ years of Field Sales experience calling on retail stores (or corporate sales experience)
  • Proficient digital literacy in Excel, Word, Power Point

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading key accounts/headquarter accounts

  • Strong influence and negotiations skills for outstanding solution solutions with persistence, compromise, and respect
  • Adept at finding common ground, identifying vital interests, and understanding the customer's underlying priorities
  • Strong analytical skills to develop 6P recommendations that result in optimized consumption based on consumption data, shopper and consumer insights
  • Manages ambiguity and strategize solutions for the customer's business and 6P plan performance and quickly develop alternative plans as needed
  • Works optimally across functions, channels, and categories to align priorities, tackle problems, optimize resources, and drive effective execution
