Position Role

To sample and analyse all raw materials, in process materials and finished goods in order to ensure that they comply with the relevant specifications.

Position Description
 

  • Performs physical and chemical testing in accordance with standard procedures. 
  • Participates in failure investigations to collect the necessary samples when appropriate.
  • Collects and analyses data to draw conclusions and recommend actions.
  • Applies appropriate methodologies and data interpretation techniques to assist in overcoming technical difficulties and promote continuous improvement.
  • Maintains the laboratory quality assurance systems to assure validity of data
  • Performs or assists vendors in the installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ) and performance qualification (PQ) of laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Maintains accurate, up to date and concise laboratory notebooks and records.
  • Uses laboratory safety equipment and understands precautions in handling reagents and disposal of chemical/ biological waste according to local environmental regulations.
  • Communicates clearly, concisely and effectively through written and oral means.
  • Ensure that GMP is maintained in the Laboratory and the mini labs.
  • Has overall responsibility to train and monitor the performance of the minilab staff.
  • Monitor chemical usage and timely reordering to ensure there is no business interruption.
  • Supports plant trial/ EMO’s with testing requirements
  • Work with the plant to investigate NCR’s and participate in RCA assessments.


Continuous Improvement: 

  • Participates in Continuous Improvement activities to improve Laboratory performance.
  • Share ideas, knowledge, and best practices to improve processes and solve problems.
  • Works to standardised best practices.


EOHS and Quality: 

  • Understands own role and responsibility as well as that of others in implementing EOHS and Quality standards and guidelines.
  • Takes corrective actions in a timely manner to mitigate potential EOHS or Quality incidents.
  • Abides by facility safety and GMP requirements and sets the example.
  • Assists with housekeeping of the production area. 


Documentation:

  • Records analytical results on a daily basis in order to detect any possible deviations / changes.

  • Sees oneself as a business team member rather than as an individual in a Supply Chain function.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and leadership to transfer information, request resources and ask for decisions.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

  • Grade 12
  • Bachelor's Degree in Analytical chemistry 


LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE 

  • At least 3 years’ experience in the lab environment or relevant process experience.
