This position will serve as a business partner to all employees at the Cambridge , OH Facility by providing support in employee relations, performance management, organizational development, training, talent management / succession planning, recruitment and other workplace initiatives, to drive operational excellence within the organization. The incumbent will provide leadership and counsel to employees in issue resolution, policy and process development, policy adherence, and process renewal to lead compliance with Colgate policies, as well as federal and state employment legislation. The right candidate will be able to meet the day-to-day requirements of the Human Resources department while maintaining a strategic and operational view that links the role of H.R to business needs. The position will also provide project leadership for HR initiatives and activities that support the Cambridge, OH  Facility with the plant Sr HRBP and Leadership team to define project scope and objectives, define project tasks/plans, assign ownership to project team members, track and drive timely completion of tasks, and meet project objectives and timelines.


Principal duties and accountabilities


Performance Management: 

  • Assist managers and employees in timely completion of all steps in annual Performance Management and Development (PM&D) process 

  • Guide and support managers in developing corrective actions and ensure proper documentation and follow up for low performing employees. 

  • Support PM&D actions for the Cambridge Facility

  •  Reports to the Sr HRBP for the Cambridge Facility. 




  • Support compensation processes including the quarterly bonus plan and award calculations, annual wage surveys, and technician wage increases.

  •  Prepare Compensation Offers for new external hires, organization transfers and promotions, and off-cycle growth promotions. 

  • Assist employees by responding to any issues and questions related to their compensation and benefits.


Training & People Development:


  • Within Talent Management systems, update/ maintain database of employee information, review talent profiles for consistency, follow up with managers, action recommendations & develop presentations.

  • Assist in preparing the annual Supply Chain Talent Review meeting. 

  • Assist in preparing career development plans, and in sustaining a continuous improvement culture.

  • Assist managers to identify knowledge gaps, and design and deliver training interventions to support the organization needs; identify training resource requirements and schedule and support the training sessions.

  •  Ensure on-boarding and assimilation processes for new employees confirms alignment with organization's vision and culture, and results in their ability to quickly contribute to the organization's goals.




Plan and coordinate the multi-step recruitment and selection process for Technicians and other positions including testing, interviews, background checks, physical/drug screens and new hire onboarding processes.  Utilize the Global Recruitment Management System (GRMS) and ensure effective advertisement and applicant tracking for all positions.  Work to match hiring needs with diversity goals by establishing and maintaining relationships with external educational institutions and community outreach organizations.


Employee Relations:


  • Counsel and provide assistance to employees and all levels of management in employee and labor issues; seek advice and guidance from corporate Employee Relations team to maintain compliance with company policies and employment laws. As needed, investigate and obtain informative information concerning employee/management inquiries and employee suggestions and/or complaints.

  • Coordinate employee transfers, conduct exit interviews, and provide recommendations for corrective action policy revision and/or improving labor and employee relations.

  • Represent the company in outside community activities, and encourage employee engagement and participation Interface between federal, state and local government representatives and the company on issues involving people.




  • Ensure effective, consistent administration of Human Resources policies and guidelines

  •  Ensure HR data is accurate and updated in SAP-HR system, for Cambridge employee populations.  Utilize SAP reports to audit data and extract for reporting and analysis. 

  • Analyze and/or prepare a variety of reports concerning the Human Resource function and key performance indicators necessary to communicate, educate or advise. 

  •  Lead recruitment activities and assessment & selection processes to fill Hourly open positions. Utilize Success Factors system to handle job requisitions, job postings, candidate sourcing and applicant data. 


Project Management: 


  • Define Project Sponsors, and establish project teams, typically to include HR Managers from the NA manufacturing sites 

  • Establish regular project team meetings, and other necessary communication methods. 

  • Deliver on project goals and dates; manage projects to ensure successful project completion 

  • Affirmative Action: Develop and assemble all information and analysis as it relates to the Affirmative Action Plan for the plant.  Ensure on-going compliance to EEO initiatives and AAP goals.  Lead actions to meet AAP annual goals based on analysis of workforce and local labor availability.


PSM (Process Safety Management): 

The HRBP supports the Sr HRBP who is an integral part of the site PSM Team. Responsibilities of the HRBP include supporting and taking direction from  the Sr HRBP in matters relating to the oversight and leadership in managing organizational changes and maintaining detailed PSM training documentation for each employee working on or around the covered processes.  (LM/BP Operators & Maintenance)

Additionally, the PSM written plan pertaining to the elements Trade Secrets and Employee Participation should be reviewed and updated annually or as needed, and the HR Specialist will take direction from the HR Manager on required review/updates.

The HR Specialist should complete PSM Awareness training during the orientation process as a new hire, and will take ongoing direction from the HR Manager on matters pertaining to the HR function for PSM process, as needed.


Basic qualifications include: 


  • BS or BA degree required (HR, Labor Relations, Business, Management or related field).

  • 4 years of relevant Human Resource Generalist experience (Staffing, Compensation, Development, Employee Relations, HRIS) Strong project management, presentation, and facilitation skills required. 

  • Proficiency with Google suite (slides, Docs, Sheets) 


 Preferred qualifications include: 


  • Masters Degree preferred. 

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment Professional Certification: PHR/SPHR/GPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP

  • Proficiency with SAP-HR and Success Factors systems 



Salary Range:  $96,400-$108,000 depending on experience

Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits.
