The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible in identifying and effectively executing Continuous Improvement projects that are focused towards the improvement of Asset Utilization (AU) and reduction of Unplanned Downtime (UPDT), as well as working with other functions such as EHS, Quality, Finance, and Planning on initiatives to improve other plant KPI’s, making sure that the operational implications of those projects are addressed. Projects may be building, production or facility related.
Core Responsibilities
The Continuous Improvement Engineer will own and drive the Productivity and Continuous Improvement Factory Performance & Reliability (FR&R) standard for all areas of the facility, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Coordinate training and ensure all plant personnel are regularly using basic root cause analysis tools.

Drive the CI prioritization process, with support of the site leadership, to identify major CI projects.

Engage all stakeholders in the identification of CI opportunities as part of routine business reviews (Cost of Sales, Funding the Growth, Annual Product Reviews and goal setting) and also identify opportunities from other sources. (EHS and Quality self-assessments, Small Group Meetings, Standard Daily Meeting, Production Planning, Practices to Share, Community Collaboration, etc.).

Ensure that the progress on the selected major CI projects is being tracked to closure and that improvement results are tracked afterwards, by reviewing regularly with the area owners and the leadership steering team.

Conduct formal line productivity reviews using data from SFR/Opera to monitor key performance indicators, elevate critical issues, and identify potential continuous improvement opportunities. Specifically, but not limited to: Unplanned Downtime (UPDT) and Absolute Material Losses (AML).

Manage the facility CI Project Hopper with the support of all functional/area leads .

Define, in collaboration with all functional/area leads, the advanced CI tools to be used to drive improvements in the Site (SMED, Kaizen [5 Day & mini], and Lean Six Sigma projects, etc.).

Lead Kaizen Events, and work in collaborations with other functions such as Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, on closure of improvement opportunities.

Drive the use of new technologies and tools, such as OPERA, DOMO, and Snowflake, in order to improve and streamline plant and line performance reviews, as well as support the analysis and reporting of plant performance KPI’s.

Manage the Standard Daily Meeting.

Participate in the Manufacturing Excellence Assessment program and have active participation in the execution and/or management of the FAP.

Develop and manage the associated capital budget as well as all technical and administrative aspects of the projects, including, but not limited to: selection, layout and installation of plant equipment, project viability, project schedule adherence, project cost containment, technology transfer, performance targets and EOHS and corporate Quality standards compliance while ensuring that operational performance targets of the projects are met.

Ensure the linkage between Operations and Engineering is active and current in order to achieve a successful transfer of projects from Engineering to Operations.

Builds relationships with R & D, Division and Subsidiary business and Supply Chain Management, FP&R, Global Product Supply Engineering, Global Packaging, Quality and EHS departments, as well as outside consultants and suppliers to ensure the business and technical objectives of the projects are satisfied.

Coordinate and oversight of contractors, architectural & engineering firm personnel, Maintenance personnel, vendor technicians, etc.
Required Qualifications:

B.S. Degree in Engineering, Packaging, Manufacturing or other Technical discipline.

Minimum of two years in Manufacturing Operations or Engineering Project Management.

Proficiency using Google Docs, Sheets and Slides or other office suite required.

Flexibility on work schedule as needed.
Preferred:
-
MS in a technical field.
-
Experience in managing the principles and standards of the Factory Performance & Reliability (FP&R) Program.

Lean Six Sigma experience or certification.
-
Familiarity with practices related to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Quality, microbiology and plant financial.

Experience with analytics and visualization tools such as DOMO, Sigma, and Snowflake.

Proficiency in SAP, including experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Experience with connected worker platforms such as Augmentir.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $67,600.00 - $104,000.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year).
