This role is primarily responsible for the operation of the Analytical Laboratory and provides oversight of satellite labs. She/he will be responsible for continuous improvement of the Quality System at the site, leading the implementation of the LabVantage LIMS system, ensuring continued compliance with Colgate Quality Standards and assure systems and quality KPIs are in place to further improve the level of compliance as well as drive a site-wide Quality culture. A strong focus on people development and process improvement is critical. In addition will be responsible for building relationships and maintaining regular contact with Colgate plant quality groups and Global Analytical.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


Responsible for managing raw material, in-process and finished product analytical testingprogram in compliance to Colgate Standard 024 – Lab Testing and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Be competent in the performance of routine laboratory test procedures, and operation of analytical instruments and other standard laboratory equipment.
Understand and use basic laboratory safety equipment and instructions, precautions in handling reagents and disposal of chemical waste according to local environmental regulations.
Ensure the interpretation, reporting of data, and maintenance of records are documented and effectively implemented. Includes the use of statistical analysis and Statistical Process Control where appropriate.
Understand and be able to precisely follow written lab procedures, global methods, local methods, and published standard or compendia sources. Translate corporate global methods to the local language as required.
Ensure the calibration of analytical instruments, the use of analytical reference standards, and the maintenance of the equipment are established and followed for all laboratories.
Ensure the installation qualification (IQ), operation qualification (OQ), and performance qualification (PQ) of the analytical instruments are performed.
Devise and execute a program of routine problem resolution and continuous improvement for the lab.
Develop and monitor the coaching and training of the staff in the laboratory. Develop, design and deliver all analytical aspects of quality training including new hire, new process, new equipment and new policy training.
Participate in internal audits. Conduct formal Quality Standards and internal/external systems audits on the analytical lab and implement changes to close any gaps, and keep the quality team informed about progress and potential risks.
Function as part of the Plant’s GMP and Quality Teams.
Liaison with the Global Analytical Group and Tech Transfer role for the commissioning of new formulas and formula changes to prepare for manufacture within the plant.
Ensure that analytical methods for key release specifications (KRS) of finished products have gone through appropriate validations and the local laboratory is qualified to perform the analysis prior to manufacturing the product.
Serve as an in-plant resource during external audits by regulatory agencies or other third parties.
Lead Analytical Lab operational budget.

Basic requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related sciences major is required
  • 3+years of experience in an analytical laboratory
  • Experience with one or more of the follow: HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR, NIR
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite (docs, sheets, slides, etc.)
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills
  • This position supports a 24/7 manufacturing site; availability at off shift hours and occasional support on weekends is expected.

Strong ability & knowledge of chemistry and analytical instruments with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and develop methods
Experience with implementation of a lab Laboratory Infomation Management System (LIMS).
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Troubleshooting and manufacturing process experience
Experience in driving cGMP improvements and knowledge of 21 CFR Part 210 & 211 regulations
