Job Title:   Assistant Manager - Regulatory Affairs

Job Function:  Regulatory Affairs, Thailand

Report to:   

  • Regulatory: Hill’s Asia & ANZ Regulatory Manager, Hong Kong
  • Local: Country Manager, Thailand

Location:  Hill’s Thailand Office, Klongtoey, Bangkok, Thailand

Core Responsibility:

Serve as Regulatory Subject Matter Expert for assigned markets in Thailand. Daily tasks include: evaluating requirements for and submitting timely product registrations; developing, documenting and updating relevant procedures; develop regulatory assessments for change management requests (e.g., PIRs, other change management, deviations); supervise and report on relevant changes to regulations; product packaging compliance review; research and maintain regulatory intelligence files.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Works independently to analyze and evaluate regulations and technical data, capture and prepare documents required for product registration in Thailand and provide regulatory support for successful and timely import inclusive of all local requirements such as mandatory product testing. Maintain up-to-date registration records and provide status to business on regular basis. Ensure Hill’s import license is current at all times. Continuously look for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness internally and positively engage with the local authorities to improve regulatory processes. (60%) 
  • Other duties as assigned including development of regulatory processes and procedures, support quality and consumer affairs where necessary, training of other regulatory personnel on registration processes and procedures (e.g. provide USA regulatory colleagues with clear and consistent information), review PIRs and other change management requests as assigned, and provide written regulatory assessments. (10%)
  • Review label copy sheets for compliance with regulations; prepare translation of label in local language for compliance with local labeling regulations; oversight of any over-stick processes on packaging. (10%)
  • Monitor regulatory changes in Thailand. Prepare strategic (fit for purpose) analysis of new or proposed regulatory requirements. Research, update and maintain regulatory intelligence files (10%)
  • Represent Regulatory Affairs on local cross-functional teams, advise cross-functions in a timely and proactive manner on regulatory matters, as needed, and prepare high quality written regulatory point of view, POV. (5%)
  • Represent company on local industry association, where appropriate. (5%)


Education/ Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related science-based field such as veterinary, animal science, science, pharmacology, nutrition. 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in related regulatory work. 
  • Considered a respected leader and has established network (such as public function or area of the expertise).


Expected Areas of Skills:

  • Proficient in applicable language for assigned country / region (speaking, reading writing). 
  • Ability to speak, read and write fluently in English.

  • Ability to understand and comply with domestic regulatory requirements (import, registration and in-market); and working knowledge of international regulations.
  • Intermediate proficiency Microsoft is minimum requirement.
  • Ability to optimally communicate verbally and in writing across all levels of the organization.
  • Good organization and planning skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong analytical skills.
