Title: People Experience – Payroll Partner Italy
Location: Anzio (RM) Italy
Role Summary
As the Payroll Partner Italy, you will serve as the dedicated subject matter expert and operational lead for end-to-end payroll management across all Colgate-Palmolive legal entities in Italy. Operating across both manufacturing and commercial/shared services environments, you will guarantee 100% operational precision, regulatory compliance, and seamless execution of payroll operations across distinct national collective agreements and employee groups.
In this role, you will act as the key partner for an effective payroll execution partnering with the People (Human Resources) and Finance function teams. You will maintain rigorous adherence to Italian labor legislation, statutory social security frameworks (INPS, INAIL), local tax structures, and diverse National Collective Bargaining Agreements (CCNLs). Additionally, you will play a central role in optimizing payroll accounting and supporting the organization in budgeting processes.
The role reports to the Sr. Manager, People Experience (Human Resources) – Western & Southern Europe Countries.
Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Italian Payroll Operations & Audit

Lead the accurate and timely monthly payroll execution, entry, and validation for the approx. 600 employees within the assigned legal entities.

Validate complex payroll inputs across commercial and plant populations, including variable pay, fringe benefit, shift indemnities, overtime allowances, leave accruals, expatriate payroll topics, internships, etc

conduct rigorous auditing and reconciliation with external payroll service providers to ensure zero-defect processing and strict compliance with global SOX standards.
2. Statutory Compliance, CCNL & Regulatory Management

Serve as the primary payroll topics expert driven by Italian National Collective Bargaining Agreements (CCNLs), mainly Chemical and Commerce.

Play an active role in paperwork preparation on employee life cycle processes, ie hiring/termination, transfers etc

Grant compliance on statutory leaves (parental leave, sick leave, injury) and ensure proper management of government with relevant authorities (INPS, INAIL).

Grant compliance on mandated government reporting (ie ISTAT)
3. Third Party Management
-
Oversee day-to-day operations and SLA accountability of external payroll providers, driving smooth communication flows, high service quality, and strict data accuracy as well as grant compliance on mandatory labor law communications

Serve as the primary point of contact for employee’s payroll topics onboarding and inquiries regarding payslips, tax deductions, leave balances, and benefits calculations.

Partner closely with the People team (HR) to ensure accurate implementation of local union agreements, shopfloor tariffs, collective bonus and local policies.

Support labor inspections, internal/external compliance audits, and any third parties request related to payroll data.
4. Systems Optimization & Financial Reporting
- Ensure accurate maintenance and update of the local system (SAP HR/Successfactor) to grant proper reconciliation
- Partner with Finance teams on payroll accounting dynamics, labor cost estimates, supporting variance analysis.
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks, leveraging automation, digital tools, and process standardizations to enhance payroll efficiency.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, HR, or Law (a Consulente del Lavoro certification or Master’s in Labor Law will be considered as a plus).

5+ years of progressive, hands-on payroll management and benefits administration within complex corporate organizations in Italy.

Multi-CCNL Expertise: Deep technical mastery of Italian labor legislation, local tax structures, social security environments (INPS/INAIL), and multiple CCNLs (Chemical Industry and Commerce/Tertiary CCNLs required).

Systems Proficiency: High fluency in enterprise HR platforms (SAP HR, Success Factor), Google Suite

Strong analytical mindset to play as an effective partner on payroll budgeting/accounting dynamics.

Proven ownership in managing external payroll vendors, driving operational SLAs, and navigating SOX audit controls.

Professional fluency in Italian (native/fluent) and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Compensation and Benefits
Expected Gross Annual Salary Range: € 48.500 – €56.400 gross per year
This position is offered under a permanent employment contract.
The initial compensation within the above range will be determined on the basis of objective, transparent and gender-neutral criteria, including professional experience, skills and competencies, qualifications, scope of responsibilities, role requirements, location, and internal company policies.
