E-Commerce Analyst (Fulltime)



Job profile:

The local e-commerce analyst is the local expert on e-commerce and digital shopper insights. You will provide critical input for the local strategy of customer development through actionable insights about needs, attitudes, behaviors and purchase triggers across the pet nutrition categories and drive implementation with our local e-commerce customers. The candidate should have interest and experience with both analytics and insight and preferably with e-commerce or digital marketing. Success in the role will involve bringing insights to life to have maximum impact on business decisions.


Key accountabilities and responsibilities:

Improving performance of local e-commerce key customers in cooperation with the customer and Center of Excellence (CoE);                                                                                                                                  

  • Together with the local e-commerce customers, the European Center of Excellence and marketing / digital team you develop, implement, monitor and evaluate (based on pre-defined KPIs) activities and generate learnings and insights for broader implementation and roll-out.
  • Improve effectiveness and efficiency of Hill’s online path-to-purchase initiatives by utilizing learning across data sources (incl. counterparts).
  • Regular contact (weekly / bi-weekly) with your CoE eCom analyst counterpart to ensure that local e-commerce efforts are aligned with the regional guidelines and terms.


    Monitoring local e-commerce players and competitors on a frequent (daily/weekly) basis to identify opportunities and challenges:                                                                                                                

  • Tracking performance of local e-commerce customers both structural (development of tracking tool / database) and ad hoc in-depth analysis for on-going insight generation. This includes sourcing, organizing, conducting and reporting in-depth analyses of diverse off and online data (e.g. web shop pages, e-commerce data sets, shopper loyalty card data, market share scan, sales data, web based tools and other syndicated sources) to identify problems and opportunities and challenges.
  • Monitoring new developments in the local e-commerce pet nutrition market in general and with regard to Hill’s and competition.
  • Establishing and sustaining strong relationships with counterparts at customers, at other Hill’s locations, marketing and third party suppliers (syndicated data, data mining company, online specialists etc.) to stay on top of emerging insights and tools in this area.


    Support the eCom KAM in daily management and implementation of the 6P A+ tools at local e-commerce customers:                                                                                                                                         

  • Manage all operational actions around the local e-commerce customers, like for instance internal promotional process, alignment on delivery issues, delivery of content, visuals, product descriptions, promotional and logistical information. 
  • Monitoring and follow up with customers on execution of agreed 6P A+ plans and activities (such as promotions, communication, brand and product presentation).
  • Monitoring Selective Distribution Policy (SDP) compliance in the Benelux eCommerce market place (including open market places) and follow up on implementation plans, track & trace activities etc.


    Devising new ideas for campaigns, creating several variations and executing in collaboration with the Center of Excellence:                                                                                                                                            

  • Integrating brand strategies and priorities, customer strategies, and fact-based insights to create new persuasive customer-centric initiatives that achieve Hill’s and customers’ joint business objectives.
  • Co-operating and gaining understanding of e-commerce and digital with the Europe CoE.


    Your profile:

    You are explorative by nature, have experience in solving new puzzles and get energized by turning data into valuable insights to help improve clients’ and Hill’s e-commerce performance with maximum business impact. Through effective communication with your colleagues at the CoE, local teams and client peers you enjoy fostering innovation in digital campaigns and improving the Hill’s shopper path to purchase. You are well organized, accurate and structured, deriving key insights and creating focus in Hill’s e-commerce efforts through maintaining and building dashboards and analysis.


    Required qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent required
  • Strong computer skills in Excel (incl pivot tables), Word, Power Point
  • Skills in Google Analytics and/or other web based tools and Search (SEO) are a strong plus



  • 2-3 years of analytics experience with business or consumer data
  • Demonstrable experience in dashboard building
  • Experience working directly with retailers and marketing is an advantage

  • Deep understanding of database capabilities and ability to go beyond static reports and templates to creatively construct tailor-made analyses to solve unique, complex problems
  • Structured, accurate and efficient in delivering reliable data and insight
  • Leadership skills and ability to sell an idea orally and in writing, embraces new developments and creates opportunities, foster experimentation, implement learnings quickly and solve problems creatively
  • Agile mindset, able & willing to constantly adapt to changing realities
  • Passionate about digital and e-commerce
  • Fluent English speaker, additional languages are certainly a plus
