SCOPE


This role will support business through analysis, implementation and compliance with legislative tax requirements and changes. This role is also responsible for the tax accounting and reporting in US GAAP and adjustments to statutory requirements, with the necessary reconciliations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved:

 

-  Review of monthly VAT calculations for compliance, as well as preparation of quarterly VAT reconciliations for South Africa entity

-  Preparation of statutory submissions: provisional tax and annual tax returns for the

-  companies in the region

-  Work with local, regional and global teams for any internal reporting requirements (US GAAP) and responding to queries thereto

-  Preparation of tax computation for forecasts including updating latest estimates and

-  budgets

-  Prepare management year-end tax computation and deferred tax calculations for all entities in the region

-  Prepare tax computation for Financial Statements

-  Responsible for SOX, internal and external audit deliverables

-  Special projects focused on tax accounting matters, including ad-hoc accounting and tax tasks

-  Responsible for reporting on intercompany transactions, for management and statutory purposes

-  Responsible for preparation of statutory CbC reporting and TP disclosures

-  Support the Financial Accounting team with WHT compliance and reporting in the region

-  Support Tax Manager on all tax controversy (tax audit) matters

-  Work with Tax Manager to implement process changes required, working with different functions post tax audits

-  Work with Tax Manager to collaborate with the business, regarding changes required to existing tax legislation

-  Implementation of tax changes to ensure compliance with current and/or new financial policies, controls and/or processes

-  Work with Tax Manager to implement audit defense strategy and/or documentation


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


-  A Bachelors or financial related qualification with subjects in Accounting and Tax plus completed articles

-  Minimum of 3 years in a specialised Tax role 

-  Strong knowledge on South African tax laws and experience of SARS filing requirements

-  Knowledge of the African Tax laws will be an added advantage

-  Experience in the manufacturing and FMCG environment will be an added advantage
