About the role:

 

As the Regional Security Manager for Central America, you will be a key leader in protecting our people, assets, and reputation. You will be responsible for the strategic implementation and management of comprehensive security and risk management programs across the region. This role offers a unique opportunity to directly influence global security policy while being the primary security partner to our local and regional business leaders. You will be instrumental in fostering a strong security culture and ensuring operational resilience in a dynamic environment.

 

What you will do:

 

Strategic Security & Risk Management:

 

  • Develop and execute regional security strategies that align with global security objectives and address specific local and regional risks.

  • Conduct regular and in-depth risk analyses, threat assessments, and vulnerability studies to inform and adapt security policies and procedures.

  • Implement and continuously evaluate the effectiveness of security controls, processes, and technologies to mitigate risks to personnel, facilities, and supply chain.

  • Drive the creation and promotion of a company-wide security awareness culture through targeted training and communication initiatives.

 

Operational Excellence & Compliance:

 

  • Oversee and coordinate all physical security operations, including the management of third-party security providers for facilities and in-transit merchandise.

  • Conduct regular audits of security controls, processes, and contingency plans to ensure compliance with company standards and contractual obligations.

  • Manage the regional implementation and maintenance of electronic security systems, including access control and CCTV.

  • Develop and maintain robust incident response and crisis management plans, ensuring readiness and effective communication during security-related events.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:

 

  • Serve as the primary security advisor and liaison to local and regional leadership, ensuring security programs support business objectives.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national law enforcement agencies and other relevant government bodies.

  • Provide executive protection coordination for personnel traveling within Central America.

  • Represent the company at security-focused forums and organizations, such as the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) and OSAC, to stay abreast of regional trends and foster professional networks.

 

Team Leadership & Development:

 

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to all personnel with security responsibilities in the region.

  • Manage the performance and service delivery of third-party security vendors, conducting periodic reviews and implementing corrective action plans as needed.

 

What do you need for this position:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Security Management, Criminal Justice, International Relations) or equivalent professional experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in corporate security, risk management, military or police experience.

  • At least 2 years in a management or people manager position.

  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and developing and implementing security policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of physical and electronic security systems (Access Control, CCTV).

  • Strong understanding of the security landscape and challenges within Latin America.

  • Professional fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal).

  • Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and as part of a global team.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Professional security certification (e.g., CPP, PSP, CISM).

  • Experience operating in a dual-reporting matrix environment.

  • Proven experience in project management and implementation.

  • Established network of security and law enforcement contacts in Guatemala and Central America.
