Deductions Team Lead

Location: Mexico City, Mexico

 

 

Role Summary

 

Are you a collaborative financial leader with a proven track record of safeguarding corporate profitability and optimization? As the Deductions Team Lead, you will manage the daily tracking, communication, and reconciliation of customer commercial and logistics deductions, including promotions, pricing, returns, shortages, and damages. Reporting directly to the Credit-to-Cash (C2C) Manager, you will guide a dedicated operational team to analyze payment differences swiftly within strict customer timelines. By ensuring meticulous documentation and driving continuous improvement, you will serve as a vital cross-functional bridge between local commercial, supply chain, and collections networks to effectively execute the chargeback process and minimize P&L leakage.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Deduction Operations Coordination: Supervise the deduction aging open items reporting workflow, ensuring the team rigorously analyzes payment variances and validates trade, shortage, and pricing claims within compliance windows.

  • Audit & Chargeback Preparation: Conduct thorough quality control audits on invalid claims, compiling comprehensive customer-requested evidence to seamlessly hand off to collections teams for timely balance recovery.

  • Team Coaching & Performance: Drive operational excellence by providing daily hands-on training, upskilling, and performance metrics monitoring to maximize team accuracy, compliance, and procedural efficiency.

  • Cross-Functional & Month-End Reporting: Partner daily with commercial, finance, and logistics units to resolve dispute bottlenecks while spearheading the team's month-end process, KPI commentary, and executive closing presentations.

  • Internal Controls Compliance: Support annual revenue Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance by serving as the operational point of contact for internal and external auditors, gathering audit samples, and strictly aligning daily workflows with GAAP standards.

  • Gross-to-Net (GTN) Enforcement: Maintain robust GTN controls by verifying proof-of-performance data from commercial teams and preparing detailed deduction aging analyses to support Finance Managers during quarterly rebate reviews.

 

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience: 3+ years of professional experience operating within Credit-to-Cash (C2C), Accounts Receivable (AR), or Order-to-Cash (O2C) processing functions.

  • Core Competencies: Extensive hands-on familiarity with complex deduction reconciliation, dispute management, and customer portal navigation.

  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial problem-solving skills with a clear understanding of basic accounting principles, financial statements, and the P&L impact of aged credit balances.

  • Technical Skillset: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for comprehensive data analysis alongside solid functional knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms like SAP.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Leadership Background: Prior experience formally leading, coaching, or acting as a project coordinator for a professional team within a global matrixed corporate structure.
  • Process Automation Exposure: Experience assisting with process mapping, workflow simplification, or supporting digital automation transformations (such as RPA or software bot integration).

  • Communication & Stakeholder Savvy: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with a demonstrated ability to influence and align cross-functional local business partners.

  • Culture Ambassadorship: A highly adaptable and proactive mindset with a passion for cultivating a collaborative, high-performance operational environment.
