The Shopper Development Manager (SDM) is responsible for taking commercial strategies and then developing retail environment specific strategies & plans to deliver profitable growth within their assigned account. The SDM is responsible for aligning our commercial goals/strategy with our customer’s commercial grids to maximize our return on investment and to ensure shopper strategies support the attainment of Colgate business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The Shopper Development Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth by:
5P Establishment & Deployment

Appropriately tailoring the 5Ps for their Accounts and 6Ps+A for E-commerce retail environment through Retail Category Development principles, alignment with customer strategies and customer-specific shopper insight

Driving the category review process to execute specific category management plans

Completing pre- and post-evaluation of all activities in partnership with CDT Finance and CDM (results vs. objective, implementation accuracy, P&L impact etc). Analysis completed with qualitative commentary and recommendations for refinement of customer strategy & tactics, and presented to the commercial team for review.

Support CDT for Selling Stories Deployment
Commercial and Business Planning Process

Providing the retail environment perspective on commercial strategy at commercial meetings

Identifying growth opportunities by Category, Retail Environment (RE) and Customer through assessing customer performance for Colgate and Total Category vs. benchmarks

Track changes in 5P’s and new product launches to monitoring implementation and communicates to all key stakeholders within Colgate

Working with CDT, Finance & Retail Marketing to manage internal KPI’s (eg Net Sales, GTN , ASP, Margin ) & accurate forecasting

Develop Joint Media Plans with eCommerce customers, aligned to the overall Commercial Plan
Business Development & E-Commerce

Engage with Key external stakeholders (Vendor Marketing, Foodstuffs, Woolworths, Non-grocery retail & online retail partners etc) to enhance CP’s category credentials

Deliver category and campaign specific insights and improvement recommendations to Retail marketing and CDT

Manage the planning and allocation of A&P investment with key customers in line with the Commercial Plan

Own monthly online sales and performance reporting, KPI & target tracking with the objective to automate reporting as much as possible

Collaborates with key customers to ensure the delivery and execution of content to drive Traffic, Conversion and Retention

Lead the development of E-commerce activity grid and P&L management to support the growth strategy
People Management

Effectively coach and mentor CDM's, CDEs and other members of the Auckland office

Participate on T2T and Customer Reviews to ensure team goals and objectives are clear and delivery of these while building Colgate & the Customers’ mutual business interests

Lead Joint Business Planning process with Woolworths, Non-Grocery & E-commerce customers as appropriate

Complete self-study and market evaluation to stay ahead of fast-moving trends in E-commerce and ensure Customer Development team develop and maintain high standards of knowledge in this space
