Job summary

The eCommerce Manager is responsible for leading, developing and executing the Tom’s of Maine eCommerce business plan to deliver sales and market share goals.  The individual will drive superior business results through strong relationship building, solid analytics, program evaluation, and development and delivery of joint business plans. This role also manages an Associate to be able to deliver on this key part of the business.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Full profit and loss statement responsibility for ‘pure play’ eCommerce customers (Amazon, Vitacost, Zulily).
  • Lead all Amazon business platforms (Core, Pantry, Fresh, Prime Now, Business etc) by setting the strategic direction and partnering with Amazon to deliver P&L goals, increase market share and improve Amazon Scorecard KPIs.
  • Working with account teams to manage and execute eCommerce 5P plans in ‘brick & mortar’ customers. 
  • Develop strong customer relationships driving engagement through joint business plans.
  • Sell, negotiate and execute Customer Plans to achieve 5P objectives for all of Tom’s of Maine brands and categories, and deliver annual sales and market share targets.
  • Partner with the Retail Category Management team to build knowledge and insights of the online path to purchase behavior together with consumption and shipment data to identify brand and category performance trends and opportunities.
  • Responsible for volume, trade-spend, and financial forecasting within Business Planning.
  • Work cross-functionally with Retail Marketing, IMC & Digital Team, CS&L, and Finance to develop and maintain winning eCommerce 5P strategies (Content, Imagery, Portfolio optimization etc)
  • Ownership of the evaluation and strategic proposals of new business channels.
  • Liaison with Colgate Palmolive-US eCommerce to share learning and leverage best practices.
  • Build eCommerce competencies internally within Toms.


Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree required, MBA a plus
  • Minimum 5+ years of e-commerce related experience
  • Strong preference for 5+ years of CPG experience
  • Experience in customer development, category management and/or shopper marketing preferred
  • Professional experience in eCommerce and digital marketing for consumer-facing brands including familiarity with emerging eCommerce tools and technologies, competitive environment.
  • Experience engaging / partnering directly with customers to build and execute mutually beneficial solutions
  • Proven track record of delivering against business objectives and/or sales targets
  • Strong data-driven strategic analysis and strategy development skills
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Highly collaborative and comfortable with working with cross-functional teams and various levels of management.


Physical Requirements

  • Sit at a desk intermittently for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to type, using a computer keyboard, intermittently for up to eight hours per day
  • Ability to receive and transmit information in person and by telephone communications
