Regulatory Affairs Manager EMEA

Location: Czech Republic (Prague)

Job Summary
Responsible for supporting Associate Director, Regulatory Affairs, EMEA to ensure compliance by Hill’s Pet Nutrition with regulations concerning research and development, manufacturing, marketing and sales of Hill’s products in the EMEA region. The Regulatory Affairs Manager will be overseeing international registration and export processes for products manufactured in Europe and developing creative solutions to solve regulatory issues. He/she represents the Regulatory Department as a functional SME as appropriate.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities





  • Oversee the registration function and health certification process in the region, to ensure exports and registrations are compliant, and completed accurately and in a timely manner for countries of operation.
  • Review product formulations and ingredient specifications to ensure compliance in the EMEA region and ensure regular and timely communication with Regulatory personnel abroad to support their compliance.
  • Manage the development of regulatory assessment and strategies for new products under development.  Work with global regulatory partners on the assessments and strategies.
  • Manage the creation and review of policy guidelines (as needed). Monitor internal projects in EMEA and ensure timely regulatory support and action. Track and report on status as needed
  • Ensure product claims and marketing communication are compliant with the applicable legislation in the countries/region. Represent RA function at the claims tracker meetings. Oversee copy content process to ensure compliance for EMEA and for international markets supplied from Europe


  • Monitor and report on regulatory actions. Monitor changes in regulatory environment in EMEA; advise and make recommendations to management as to the impact of regulatory changes and ways to mitigate the impact. Keep abreast of regulatory issues which may impact Hill’s operations.


  • Foster positive engagement with internal cross-functions locally and globally (R&D, Marketing, CS&L, Procurement, Manufacturing, PVA, Legal, Customer Development) as well as with regulatory authorities.

Education/ Experience Requirements

Basic qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, food science, nutrition or other scientific / technical field is desirable.


Eight+ years of experience in the pet food, feed, food or pharmaceutical industry, with focus on labeling, registrations, export-import compliance, ingredients, claims and other issues, including dealing with governmental agencies and/or trade associations.

Preferred qualifications include: Knowledge of EMEA Regulatory requirements relevant to responsibilities. Ability to interpret issues that may impact Hill’s products. Proven ability to work with various departments (Marketing, R&D, CSL, manufacturing, GD&P, etc) and provide advice, counsel and regulatory leadership.
