In order to continue its commercial success, Colgate-Palmolive (Brussels) is currently looking for a Senior Customer Development Manager (Snr. CDM). 

In this role the Snr. CDM is responsible for defining and executing the strategic sales plans for one of our top 3 customers.  Herein the focus lies in building strong partnerships with the customers and ensuring a mutually profitable business model. Furthermore the Snr. CDM is responsible to lead and manage a small size team in ensuring the delivery of the sales and profit growth plan and supporting execution of all relevant category and brand strategies. 

 

It is a key position within the organization reporting directly to the Customer Development Team Lead and strongly collaborating with the marketing team and other teams to attain successful company goals. 

 

KEY COMPETENCES & RESPONSIBILITIES

EXTERNAL 

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the customer strategy, their shopper and how Colgate-Palmolive can optimise their brands and strategy within this environment
  • Demonstrate commercial drive to interrogate the business, in order to swiftly identify issues and opportunities for resolution/optimization and target achievement
  • Plan, prepare, negotiate and implement customer engagement initiatives such as promotional programs, new product introductions, annual agreements, P&L / revenue enhancing initiatives, category related projects, in-store initiatives, etc

 

INTERNAL 

  • Deliver budgeted sales, profit growth, & share 
  • Develop tailored commercial plans & implement them via a Joint Business Plan
  • Work closely and creatively with a cross-functional commercial team (e.g. finance, retail marketing, category management and logistics) to identify, develop and implement the appropriate business solutions required to drive the business forward.                                     
  • Supervising, coaching and developing a small size team 

 

PROFILE 

  • French/Dutch with a good knowledge of English 
  • Experience: 
  • 5-8 years’ experience in Sales, Trade Marketing and / or Category Management
  • Good knowledge & understanding of the FMCG industry and Belgian Retail (preferably experience with a top 3 customer)
  • People management experience is a plus 
  • Competencies required:
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Passionate about brands and customers
  • Team player (easily develops relationship with customers and key people in other functions and at other levels) with a winner mentality focused on delivering results
  • Strong analytical skills, accurate, curious and pragmatic
  • Enjoys “the game of negotiation” and is always looking for creative commercial solutions during negotiations with a win-win mindset
  • University degree
