As a Retail Environment Manager for Hill’s Pet Nutrition, you will be responsible for:


Go To Market Planning:

  • Identifies and develops requirements for the Pet retail environment for product launches and national promotions
  • Leads the input from Customer Development organization at Go-to-Market meetings
  • Ensure compliance to volume/spend guidelines
  • Identify spend effectiveness/efficiency opportunities and how best to redeploy
  • Participates actively in all Product development teams to ensure customer launch deadlines are met and product bundles meet key channel/customer requirements
  • Provides Customer Development organization with sales estimate guidelines for new products
  • Collaborates with the Retail Activation Managers on the development of 6P strategy & tactics
  • Manages the timetable for communication to the field and customers of New Products
  • Alerts commercial team of any actions required to ensure timelines are met           

People Management:

  • Prioritizing Retail Activation Managers deliverables
  • Providing Coaching and Feedback
  • Managing Performance Management Development and Individual Development Process

Product Launch Support and Execution:

  • Develop 6P strategies and tactics for key categories and new products in collaboration with Consumer Marketing to meet the needs of the retail environment
  • Coordinates the requirements in terms of quantities for all above support materials
  • Reports on monthly launch Key Performance Indicators
  • Communicates all new product launches to the field

Minimum Advertised Pricing:

  • Lead MAP evaluation and communicate violations to commercial teams and customer.
  • Liason with Customer Service
  • Manage MAP communications with the customer

Portfolio & transition Management:

  • In collaboration with the retail category development team provides recommendations to Consumer marketing on portfolio management.  
  • Ensures timely communication of all New products & discontinued products to Field Directors and District Managers

6P Management:

  • Liason with the Retail Activations Manager to develop the 6P Strategy by Retail Environment.
  • Collate Key Insight and Learning’s for 6P development with Customer Development and Consumer Marketing
  • Update and Communicate 6P Strategy by RE to commercial and field organization

Commercial  Planning Management:

  • Together with the Retail Director  manage  the commercial process in preparation for Decisions Day, Consensus Day and manages output of the Long Lead Planning
  • Report CBP Latest Estimates for Commercial Process
  • Manage Hurdle Rate Approvals


Education/ Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years in sales, marketing, or related experience in CPG industry
  • 3+ years of people management experience and/or  3+ years of key account management experience
  • Proficient computer skills in Excel, Word, Power Point


Preferred Education/Experience Requirements

  • MBA
  • 3+ years of retail marketing experience

  • Excellent business presentation ability and a skilled communicator
  • Strong influence and negotiations skills for win-win solutions with persistence, compromise, and respect
  • Adept at finding common ground, identifying vital interests, and understanding the customer’s underlying priorities
  • Strong analytical skills to develop 6P recommendations that result in optimized consumption based on consumption data, shopper and consumer insights
  • Manages ambiguity and strategize solutions for the retail environments and 6P plan performance and quickly develop alternative plans as needed
  • Works effectively across functions, channels, and categories to align priorities, solve problems, optimize resources, and drive effective execution
