Position Purpose:


The NIR (Near-Infrared) specialist is responsible for supporting the evaluation, development and implementation of rapid on-line/in-line/at-line methods for process monitoring, control, and release of raw materials, premixes, and finished products in compliance with Colgate-Palmolive (CP) Standards and Guidelines. This position provides technical support to manufacturing facilities in the areas of analytical chemistry, Near-IR and chemometric techniques, development and validation of calibration curves, technology transfer and training.


Let's talk about Responsibilities:


  • Support strategy development and implement Hill’s rapid analysis program.  Develop, validate, and manage NIR calibration curves for ingredients and finished products.
  • Quality program:  Develop SOPs (Standard Operation Procedure) and ensure compliance of CP Global Standards
  • Provide support for troubleshooting of analytical methods and laboratory out-of-specification investigation
  • Identify, develop, and validate rapid analytical methods to support manufacturing consistency and product quality.
  • Train manufacturing and technology staff to utilize developed methods and maintain instrumentation.
  • Partner with Supply Chain Processing Systems, design and perform feasibility studies of potential new applications for process monitoring and control.
  • Participates in internal audits and external audits (contract manufacturers and labs, suppliers, etc.)


What you need for this position:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific field such as Food Science, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics or Biology
  •  2+ years of experience in analytical laboratory in food, consumer product or pharmaceutical industry




  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years’ experience in analytical laboratory in food, consumer product or pharmaceutical industry


  • Travel 20%


It’s an advantage to have:

  • Masters in Chemistry or Food Science
  • Experience in calibration development using chemometric software
  • Method development in a laboratory setting.
  • .Strong ability & knowledge of Statistics and Statistical Process Control tools


Expected Areas of Skills:


  • Possess technical knowledge of underlying principles of analytical chemistry and test methods
  • Working Knowledge and practical Experience with good laboratory practices (GLP’s) - General analytical laboratory practices and Instrumentation.
  • Knowledgeable in NIR operation software (ISIScan, ISINova, Mosaic, etc.) or comparable laboratory software and equipment.
  • General computer skills (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, SPC, SAP, e-mail).
  • Ability to Make decisions and communicate effectively while under pressure
  • Team Building/Relationship Building - Develops relationships with people throughout Quality and Product Supply
  • High learning aptitude
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
