If you are passionate about our company mission, we invite you to apply for the position of Business Account Manager (BAM) for our Pet Channel, based out of the Hill's Corporate Office in Topeka.  As a BAM for Hill's Pet Nutrition, you will assume headquarter customer management responsibilities for military and specialty accounts as well as government contracts. The position will require up to 40% overnight travel.

 

The primary responsibilities include customizing and implementing Hill’s RE & brand strategies to grow market share and associate brand recommendation within the military / specialty customer base.  The position develops and executes customer specific 6P plans to achieve the Hill’s commercial goals of net sales, share, margin, while spending within GTN guidelines.

 

A Business Account Manager will apply current business trends, Hill’s corporate strategies, customer strategies, and post analysis of executed activities in plan development. A BAM is responsible for building relationships at all levels at the customer via direct communication, business presentations and frequent interaction with the customer key contacts.

 

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Develops, executes and monitors 6P plans versus the goal. Drives 6P plans and responds to customer requests during regularly scheduled meetings with each customer (minimum (1) per month
  • Updates Colgate Business Planner to reflect baseline sales and promotion plans.  Manages customer payments
  • Manage broker and distributor relationships for military exchange and commissaries and manages specialty accounts such as research facilities, rescue centers, and specialty shelters.
  • Oversee government contracts including request for bid, quotes and pricing. Also manage the internal process for pricing.
  • Develop the plan, spending and promotion materials for Puerto Rico
  • Manage monthly/quarterly incentive tracking and payment for the military and brokerage accounts
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with both the customer and internal commercial teams – Marketing, Supply Chain, and Store Operations
  • Develops and maintains process and plan to analyze each customers business. Reviews current business trends, shopper insights, and learning’s from post analysis of executed activities into strategic 6P plan. Executes Hill’s retail environment and brand strategy with Hill’s BDM & Retail Marketing team..
  • Develops and executes customer specific annual strategic plan and initiatives to achieve the commercial goals. Engages customer on category growth expectations.
  • Drives forward actions in monthly customer planning meetings to review actuals plus plan-to-go with manager, BDM & Finance

 

Education/ Experience Requirements

 

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree or higher
  • Minimum of 5 years of Field Sales experience calling on retail stores (or corporate sales experience)
  • Proficient computer skills in Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Ability to pass military base entry requirements (typically no felonies/misdemeanor infractions on criminal background check)
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience managing key accounts/headquarter accounts

  • Strong computer skills in Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Excellent business presentation ability and a skilled communicator
  • Strong influence and negotiations skills for win-win solutions with persistence, compromise, and respect
  • Adept at finding common ground, identifying vital interests, and understanding the customer’s underlying priorities
  • Strong analytical skills to develop 6P recommendations that result in optimized consumption based on consumption data, shopper and consumer insights
  • Manages ambiguity and strategize solutions for the customer’s business and 6P plan performance and quickly develop alternative plans as needed
  • Works effectively across functions, channels, and categories to align priorities, solve problems, optimize resources, and drive effective execution
  • Spanish speaking
  • Ability to enter military base locations (which requires meeting base specific background check criteria)
