JOB TITLE: Senior VAT Analyst

 

Job Summary

The role of this job is primarily to be a VAT specialist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Hill’s VAT Centre of Excellence activities and tasks. The person will support Tax Manager in its European VAT risk management role.

The person will be involved in providing advanced VAT knowledge and VAT systems analysis to the management team to support relevant business decisions and VAT risk management performance and would work on global tax projects and projects influencing tax set-ups.

The person should proactively communicate and channel communication between shared services centres and individual Hill’s subsidiaries and to provide analytical and SAP skills and expertize in order to achieve overall European VAT compliance and VAT risk management.

In addition, the person should ensure financial and tax control over VAT compliance of the Colgate Palmolive Europe Sarl and both Czech entities including its various foreign VAT compliance duties.

Project work:

  • Lead local and regional tax projects (testing of new set-ups, supply chain changes, GTM projects, etc)
  • Participate on and serve as regional subject matter expert on global VAT projects

Work on VAT Center of Excellence projects and VAT compliance of Hill’s Europe:

  • Regular VAT reviews in EU subsidiaries 
  • Research legislative changes to develop and recommend updates Develop guidelines and provide training
  • Develop, maintain and update standard VAT reporting files, procedures and manuals
  • Maintenance of SAP set-up relevant to VAT and master data
  • Analysis of SAP reports and other systems relevant for VAT and Intrastat automation in order to implement error free and user friendly solutions and simplifications for Hill’s Europe
  • Legislation monitoring

VAT compliance / Intrastat reporting for Hill’s division of Colgate-Palmolive Europe Sarl, HPN CZ, HPNM (Hustopeče plant)

  • VAT compliance reporting and VAT risk management performance for all VAT registrations of Hill’s/Colgate-Palmolive EU in place including but not limited to analysis of VAT accounting and reports, correction of identified mistakes, preparation of VAT returns in cooperation with CBS, EC Sales Lists, Local reverse charge reports, Intrastat reports and other obligatory VAT compliance statements.
  • Communication with other departments such as logistics and transport services or customer services in order to achieve tax efficiency and tax compliance and provision of guidance to CBS team for their preparatory tasks in VAT reporting
  • Support to Tax Manager during VAT inspections and audits
  • Maintenance of VAT GL accounts including review of CBS work on revaluation, reconciliation and clearing of problematic items, communication with appropriate people regarding corrections, reviewing of monthly closing reports.

Education/ Experience Requirements

Basic qualifications include:  University degree with at least 3 years of professional experience in tax / VAT compliance process and financial data analysis required. Big 4 consulting companies’ background welcomed (3 years and more experience).

 

Expected Areas of Skills

  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP
  • Advanced knowledge of Czech VAT law and tax administration rules
  • General knowledge of European VAT law and principles
  • Strong understanding of Accounting principles and practices
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills and problem solving capabilities, results oriented
  • Ability to build relationships across cultures and functions
  • Ability to plan and prioritize projects and day-to-day business needs
  • Knowledge in business operations

 

Working Relationships (Key partnerships and reporting relationships)

  • Tax Manager – direct and functional reporting
  • Global Tax
  • All Departments – taxation advice and guidance
  • Global IT -  coordination of systems testing, implementation and maintenance
  • Colgate Shared Service Center in Poland – VAT guidance and support to VAT and AP transactions

 

Travel Requirements

Expected percentage of travel:  Irregular travel may be required
