Job Summary

1. To grow budgeted value and volume sales & share of Hill’s products in the Vet Channel by delivering the commercial plan in order to increase the number of people feeding Hill’s

2. Operate as the key interface between head office and field based Territory Managers to ensure execution of all initiatives with excellence

3. To lead the field based Territory Managers and to develop their competencies and capabilities

to grow vet recommendation, drive distribution, ensure maximum call impact and deliver a significant competitive advantage over key competitors.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities





Ensure Vet channel sales and market share goals are achieved through the effective

development and deployment of commercial plans with excellence



Lead, coach, develop, empower and motivate his/her group of Territory Managers to:

  • reach or exceed the call frequency and value
  • reach or exceed distribution targets
  • maximize the number of staff feeding Hill’s and the number of quick recommendations
  • educate the Vet Health Care Teams  through CPD &  in clinic seminars (commercial & disease)



Understand the key drivers of the business ensuring an in-depth knowledge of the marketplace and Vet Channel.  Leveraging this knowledge to monitor/adjust/recommend plans to achieve or exceed business goals through the Colgate Business Planning (CBP) process


Support the Vet Key Customer Manager to ensure effective Key Customer Engagement  by building strong networks/customer wiring and the implementation of agreed key  customer business and promotional plans


Use available data sources to develop root cause analysis of issues and opportunities. Develop recommendations and proactively bring these to the business through the CBP process


Lead relevant projects as assigned by the business and Customer Development Director and execute with excellence


Allocate, and control the budgeted or agreed territory budgets and customer spends


Develop his/her own leadership and technical skills and possess a working knowledge of animal health & nutrition


Total Percent (not to exceed 100%)

Education/ Experience Requirements

Basic qualifications include:

  • University Degree
  •  Minimum 5 years field sales management experience in a corporate environment (pharmaceutical or nutrition company or retail (FMCG) 

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Knowledge pet food / vet market

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office is required
  • English, both written and oral
  • Presentation skills &  Ability to present to large groups of customers or peers
  • Full and valid driver’s license required
