Colgate-Palmolive Northern Europe operates across the region with central headquarter in Guildford outside London, UK, and direct presence in each country Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. The company holds leadership positions in a wide array of personal and home care categories across the region.


We are now looking for our future Total Rewards Manager to be based at our office in Guildford.



  • The Total Rewards Manager is at the forefront of driving and implementing the CP and Hill’s Compensation & Benefits strategy, ensuring that the Company attracts, motivates, develops and retains high calibre talent
  • Working with the CP and Hill’s senior management team across the client groups, you will have responsibility for managing all aspects of the Compensation & Benefits programmes, including annual Salary Planning and annual Bonus process, the Flexible Benefit Scheme, the HR NVO Budget (including headcount), Expatriate Compensation, and UK Payroll
  • You will work with the wider HR team to support organisational change programmes, review and develop policies and processes and contribute to global HR projects



Manage all aspects of Compensation & Benefits across CP and Hill’s, including:


Annual Salary Process 

  • Manage annual salary planning, including participation in annual benchmarking surveys with global partners, creation of salary structures and merit guidelines and communication
  • Monitor Compensation and Total Package trends, salary movements, annual inflation and average earnings movements
  • Co-ordinate the Annual Salary Review process, working with Salary Planning Managers and Directors to propose salary increases, in line with budget, within Division’s guidelines
  • Interface with managers, HRBP and employees regarding general compensation queries.
  • Provide guidance and advice and make decisions as required
  • Propose and generate new hire, grade promotion and off-cycle salary adjustments via the Compensation Offer system, ensuring all necessary approvals
  • Responsible for monthly payroll notification and checking of payroll information


Flexible Benefits, including Pension and Share schemes

  • Manage auto-enrolment process in company Defined Contribution pension plan
  • Manage annual renewal of Defined Contribution Stakeholder Plan providers (Administrators and Insurers) per Company and Trustee guidelines
  • Manage the flexible Benefits program, maximising the benefit to employees while managing cost
  • Partner with global procurement to negotiate, select/renew contracts and manage payment of premiums for external service providers
  • Propose and communicate changes to existing benefits and new benefits for inclusion in the plan.
  • Produce financial cost analysis for Finance Budget Planning process
  • Provide data for annual benefit surveys to determine position in market
  • Manage all other benefits of employment to ensure competitive position and practice.
  • Manage the Share Scheme, liaising with Payroll and Finance as necessary


Expatriate Compensation and Relocation

  • Communicate and action Expatriate salary changes//Incentive in accordance with guidelines issued by Global and Division
  • Manage Expatriate/STA relocations/orientations as required, partnering with external service providers (Weichert/Fragomen) and Colgate Global  Relocation
  • Responsible for Visa sponsorship process, including work permits, visas, A1 forms
  • Deliver Expatriate administration in line with European and International Assignment policies ensuring that Division are informed of all status changes
  • Manage Expatriate/UK Pension recharges to other subsidiaries


Budgeting and planning

  • Provide GM and Directors with management information including statistics and analysis as required.
  • Assist  in Business Review preparation
  • Analyse NVO costs and work with Finance Director to ensure accurate reporting of NVOs and monitoring and reporting of Headcount
  • Monitor and review departmental and employee benefit expenditure in line with budget, agreeing LE proposals
  • Process payment of service provider invoices as necessary


Annual Bonus process

  • Drive the alignment and implementation of variable bonus processes 
  • Calculate local bonus awards and issue award letters, continuing to further align with Europe bonus strategy


UK Payroll

  • Collate monthly payroll information with HR Business Partner
  • Input monthly payroll changes into Payroll system
  • Check payslips and answer queries



Demonstrates professional competence by using knowledge and in-depth experience in HR and Comp & Ben to attract and retain Colgate talent and enhance employee engagement and effectiveness.



  • Degree educated, must be fully CIPD qualified.
  • Proven experience as HR generalist in blue-chip commercial organization.
  • Previous experience in Compensation & Benefits
  • Previous experience in Payroll
  • Analytical mindeset
  • Systems literate, experience with SAP HR preferred
  • HR career professional – preferably globally mobile
  • Effective communicator
  • Results oriented
  • Good at networking and relationship building
  • Strong project manager
  • Team player
