Drive meaningful customer engagement and collaboration through the use of category intelligence, shopper-centric insights and a sound understanding of Colgate/Retailer business challenges


  • Act as an impartial “consultant” to Colgate-Palmolive’s retail partners providing a complete Retail Category Development service
  • Lead the engagement strategy and act as a ‘thought leader’ providing actionable insight for both Oral Care & Personal Care categories.
  • Develop category growth solutions that meet retailer & Colgate-Palmolive objectives
  • Champion on-going dialogue & execution of our Oral Care growth strategies with our retail partners


  • Proactively engage Consumer Marketing, Retail Marketing & Customer Development in identifying category, customer & Colgate growth opportunities & feeding these into the wider business process.
  • Identify category insights and share across the business to strengthen category understanding and customer engagement.
  • Be recognised as an RCD expert and elevate the capabilities and competences of both the RCD team and the wider commercial organisation.



  • Develop & lead independent relationships across key customers, establishing Colgate-Palmolive as a key partner for category & shopper insights
  • Develop & deliver category solutions that drive category growth.
  • Work closely with Insights & Head of Category to identify category & shopper insights gaps. Integrate these into the Customer Development and Consumer Marketing teams to strengthen our category understanding and customer engagement.
  • Work with the Head of Category to implement the Category Growth Drivers and develop customer specific growth solutions (internally and externally).
  • Deliver regular category assessments (Environmental Scans) to understand category challenges, opportunities and insight gaps (internally & externally).
  • Proactively identify commercial opportunities with Customer Development & Consumer Marketing Teams along with 5P recommendations and assist in delivery where appropriate (including the monitoring and SKU level plan for mandated assortment in key customers).
  • Lead the development of appropriate category and shopper solutions/initiatives.
  • Integrate category expertise into the Customer Development Team to deepen customer engagement and category understanding
  • Proactively collaborate & share knowledge/expertise across the category team and wider business, keeping abreast of Category Management systems & solutions, keeping up to date with, and championing latest retail/category developments to ensure maximum commercial benefit across the business
  • Work cross functionally to develop and externalise category trade stories for Dental & Washing & bathing to unlock category growth for Colgate and our retail partners.
  • Be fully conversant and work in accordance with the RCD programme and ICPE training

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Fully competent / able to use a range of data sources (Nielsen & Kantar essential).
  • Competent in the use of space planning tools.
  • Self-starter with a natural curiosity & drive in order to get to the root cause.
  • Ability to connect the dots; identify insights and trends and leverage this knowledge to develop strategic recommendations for action & implementation.
