Technical Associate/ Sr Technical Associate- Cell / Molecular Biology

We are seeking a cell or molecular biologist with experience designing experiments to understand molecular pathways and their relevance to pathogen host interactions.  Experience with oral pathogens is preferred.  He/she will use their molecular and cellular biology expertise to define correlations between therapeutic compound exposure and pathway suppression.  This role will involve developing and maintaining state-of-the-art technological capabilities, planning and conducting laboratory experiments and interpreting data.  The candidate should have experience or a solid understanding of different assay technologies used in metagenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.  The candidate should also have experience developing translational models to identify new biomarkers of clinical relevance.

 

The key responsibilities of this position are as follows:

 

  • Lead the design and execute experiments using cellular and molecular biological assays to investigate and target the biological pathways of host and/or pathogen.
  • Lead pre-clinical and clinical experiments to identify biomarkers of oral health and disease
  • Develop translational models that mimic clinical oral health to disease progression
  • Interpret and communicate complex experimental results to both technical and non-technical business partners effectively.
  • Present technical findings to internal R&D community & management teams, external conferences, and to document findings in internal technical reports and/or external publications.
  • Form internal and external collaboration to progress project initiatives.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Education : 
    • PhD with 8+ years postdoc or industry experience  OR
    • MS with 10+ years of experience in Cell Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or related field
  • Strong background in cell and molecular biology, cellular and biochemical assay development, and/or molecular pathways analysis
  • Fluent in the use of molecular techniques to evaluate molecular interactions (e.g. western blotting, ELISA, proteomics, qPCR, NG seq, transcriptomics) and experience developing and executing in vitro and/or in vivo models.
  • Experience in applying data from transcriptomics and metagenomic databases to provide mode of action and molecular pathway target info
  • Molecular work experience; e.g., DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, RT-qPCR, et

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Substantial knowledge of oral biology and/or oral microbiology
  • Skills in gene expression analysis, metabolic profiling and large-scale analysis of omics data using complex statistical and bioinformatics methods
  • Practical experience of next-generation sequencing data analysis
  • Skills in computer programming
  • Ability to interpret and analyze IPA data sets.
