Colgate-Palmolive invites applications for a Post Doctoral Research Scientist (PDRS) position based at our Piscataway, NJ location. Two year fixed term of at-will employment. The Research Scientist will have the opportunity to participate in product development efforts in Oral Care and will document research results with technical reports, patent applications, and present technical findings to R&D community and management.

 

The key responsibilities of this position are as follows:

 

  • Design new computational architectures based on Computational Chemistry, Machine Learning, and Chemoinformatics in order to predict structure-activity relationships in complex chemical environments.
  • Work with a diverse team of scientists to experimentally validate computational predictions and advise on research directions.
  • Collaborate with external academic and industrial partners on research projects exploring fundamental and applied research related to the project goals.
  • Oversee and advise internal resources for coding and software development.
  • Partner with infrastructure team to implement scalable solutions.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D in computer science or computational chemistry or physics with thesis work in the natural sciences, preferably applying machine learning approaches to scientific research questions.
  • Familiarity with basic concepts in chemistry including molecular structures, thermodynamics, and kinetics.
  • Capable of carrying out independent research programs with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with multifunctional technical/non-technical personnel and be an effective participant in a team environment.

 

 

Preference will be given to candidates with:

 

  • Strong programming knowledge (Object Oriented, Functional, algorithm design/computational theory, advanced data structures, etc.)
  • Experience with UX/web design (html/css/javascript, DOM, responsiveness, REST, MVC/SPA frameworks, etc). 
  • Experience working with databases (creation/administration, schema, modeling, entity relationships, sql, etc.)
