Job Summary



The Associate Manager/Manager, Indirect Procurement – Market Research & Insights will manage primarily the Company’s indirect spend in Colgate (U.S. Company, Tom’s, Canada, COP), and Hill’s (US and Canada) North America. Candidate will also manage spend in the Sales and Commercial spends. Furthermore, he/she will also support projects in various other Marketing categories of spend.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities


The Associate Manager/Manager, Indirect Procurement – Market Research & Insights plays an integral role by:

  • Implementing the global sourcing plans and strategies using Colgate-Palmolive's seven step sourcing process.
  • Supporting Colgate's requirements for supported function/business units/category spend by selecting core and/or leveraged suppliers which provide optimal cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Implementing best in class global strategies and manage relationships and alliances with the leveraged suppliers so that they are in tune with developments and directions in Colgate business units.
  • Identifying, developing, and managing strategic business relationships, internally and externally, to ensure the alignment of sourcing strategies to meet business requirements
  • Working collaboratively with team members, business and functional business partners, and suppliers to develop and monitor project plans to ensure sourcing projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Accountable for the Purchasing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and working with the entire supported function/business units.
  • Ensuring organizational service, quality, innovation, and financial goals are met.
  • Gaining comprehensive industry knowledge of best practices, processes, and technology trends to proactively adjust sourcing strategy.
  • Identifying metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing and supplier innovation and efficiencies.
  • Participating in the development, negotiation and implementation of contract agreements with suppliers.




Required qualifications include: 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts or Science (or equivalent local university degree) in a technical or business field, or comparable discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Financial or Marketing related experience
  • Proficient knowledge and experience of core procurement skills, such as market analysis, contract development and management, supplier selection, negotiation, supplier performance and supplier relationship management
  • Must have marketing research and insights specific knowledge.
  • Must have a proficiency in creating RFP’s (Request for Proposal's).
  • Must be able to formulate and proactively communicate strategies and concepts
  • A good understanding of project management methodologies and e-procurement processes and tools such as SAP, eSourcing, Emptoris, etc.



Preferred qualifications include:

  • An advanced degree (MBA) or professional certification (CPM, CPIM, or Project Management) is desirable
  • Expertise with strategy development for multiple indirect spend categories
  • Be a highly capable negotiator able to handle significant amounts of ambiguity and negotiating conditions
  • Advanced contract negotiation skills and strategic cost analysis disciplines as it relates to the industry and the ability to evaluate the competitiveness for the particular commodity.
