As part of the Global Rewards Group, the Total Rewards Director will be responsible for the overall strategy, design and implementation of total rewards programs, including base pay, incentive pay, benefits and retention programs for the North American & Latin American Regions. The position incumbent will work collaboratively with both the business and HR and will be required to understand specific business needs while having responsibility for the delivery of well-considered compensation and benefits solutions and processes utilizing SAP technology solutions. 

 

The ideal candidate for this position is a proven leader with a demonstrated ability to support, develop and challenge a high-performing team while maintaining strong partnerships within the organization and providing expert guidance and support on compensation and benefits.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Develop strategic compensation programs and solutions to drive business results;
  • Construct and implement local rewards programs consistent with Colgate’s total rewards philosophy;
  • Drive the benchmarking, design and implementation of all regional compensation programs, including base pay, incentives, and sales compensation to ensure they align with company strategy and best in class practices;
  • Develop policies and guidelines related to base salary, short term bonus plans and local talent retention strategies;
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs and recommend plan revisions as well as new plans which are cost effective, consistent with market trends, best practices and company objectives; coordinate implementation and provide guidance to constituents;
  • Ensure benefit programs meet the needs of the employees and are aligned with the market;
  • Drive health and wellness sustainability initiatives throughout the region;
  • Ensure the administrative aspects of compensation programs are efficient, effective and scalable as the organization continues to grow.  Liaise with CBS (Shared Services Organization) to ensure successful administration of compensation programs;
  • Participate in and review market benchmark surveys, analyze competitive market data and develop recommendations for updates to job architecture, salary structures and incentive targets to ensure market competitiveness. Propose salary increase budgets;
  • Provide expertise and guidance to other members of the HR team.  Advise on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretations, and job evaluations;
  • Develop talent in the region;
  • Develop communication strategies to ensure awareness of relevant and updated compensation and benefit programs and policies;
  • End-to-end process execution of selected compensation programs (e.g., annual bonus, salary recommendation, annual process requiring Board approval);
  • Compensation technology recommendation and selection;
  • Develop and grow a Total Rewards team;
  • Manage a team (5-7 direct / 20 indirect) of HR professionals

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • 15+ years of functional (Compensation) experience including experience planning, designing and developing strategic Total Rewards programs;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Human Resources, Management or other related discipline;
  • Master’s Degree preferred;
  • Strong knowledge of Compensation & Benefits, including Global Mobility;
  • International Compensation experience;
  • SAP / SuccessFactors working knowledge;
  • Spanish / Portuguese language proficiency desired; 
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Supervisory experience/experience managing large teams located across geographies;
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to manage in a fast paced, high volume environment;
  • Must be flexible and have the ability to multitask;
  • Analytical capabilities and attention to detail;
  • Collaborative nature and team spirit;
  • Demonstrated strength in customer service;
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and anticipate customer needs and issues
