POSITION                    :           Automation/Instrumentation Technician  

 

REPORTING TO           :           Engineering Manager

 

DEPARTMENT              :           Engineering

 

 

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Automation Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment in the Canelands Factory and the automation projects to be realized. Reports to engineering Manager.

He determines the process interaction within the quality management system in relation to the unit for which it is responsible, determines the required procedures and working instructions within the scope of Factory Performance and Reliability (FP&R), ensures the preparation of these documents, reviews these documents and communicates them to the Engineering Manager for approval.

 

 

Duty Responsibilities:

  • Review the documents prepared in relation to the unit and ensures that they are updated if needed.

• Maintains and supervises these activities in accordance with current procedures and instructions.

• Carries out corrective and preventive actions

• Ensures that records related to the activities to be held are kept regularly and these records are kept in accordance with the determined principles.

• Participates in the engineering activities carried out to ensure that the equipment and systems  maintain their electrical / electronic functions at the highest performance.

• Helps to perform electrical / electronic periodical maintenance activities planned for the whole factory.

• Participates in project work that will provide automation and process improvements to be made on machines to contribute to product quality.

• Ensures the availability and timely supply of electrical / electronic spare parts stocks of critical sections in the factory.

• Responsible for implementing the environmental and occupational health and safety regulations and applying to the engineering department.

• Contributes to the execution of emergency, planned and predictive maintenance programs of all electrical

Provides the optimization of spare parts related to electrical and electronics, and supports and monitors the responsible persons to control and determine the minimum stock levels of the spare parts that the company needs.

• Ensures line efficiency and cost reduction.

• Ensures the operation, maintenance and cleaning of the equipment area in the workshop.

• Strives for continuous improvement of the effectiveness of the Planned Maintenance Standard and Quality Management Systems.

• Follow and implement actions related to Quality and Factory Performance and Reliability Standards

• Provides application of engineering methods and skills in order to rectify equipment problems which cause unplanned production stops

Experience and Essential Skills

  • 5 years as a Technician in the Electrical field, especially in Automation (general maintenance / projects)
  • Read understand and draw Electrical drawings circuits
  • Electrical and PLC fault finding
  • Read and understand Hydraulic / Pneumatic drawings ESSENTIAL
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation and utilities generation plants
  • Management: Financial/People
  • Understanding of EOHS principles and application
  • Project management skills
  • Computer skills -  Analytical and decision support systems
  • Understanding of Labor/Law principles.

 

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

  • Min Ndip/ N6 (Automation and Instrumentation)
  • 5 years experience in FMCG environment  in Automation and Instrumentation
  • Bsc Automation and Instrumentation or S4 Eng. (Mech/Electrical.) + 5 years experience in FMCG environment ( added advantage)
  • Studying towards GCC (added advantage)
