Position Purpose:

 

The Process Engineer will provide engineering expertise and execution for the continuous improvement of plant detergent processing, surfactant sulfonation and utilites management.

Provide leadership and technology transfer on all capital projects and establish, promote and adhere to “good engineering practice” standards.

 

Let's talk about Responsibilities:

 

  • Execute “good engineering protocol” for capital implementation, including: evaluation and development of project scope, development of PFD’s, P&ID’s, equipment specifications, capital estimates, timelines, equipment layouts, contract bids, project spending reports, installation and start-up.
  • Support Continuous Improvement and Business Simplification through system evaluation, fault tree analysis, vertical integration and benchmarking. Work closely with plant operational teams to identify liquid making and base manufacturing operating efficiency, quality control and EOHS opportunities and drive business simplification principles.
  • Actively participate in the annual development of local and national Capital Expenditure Budgets including project estimates, savings analysis, project portfolios and presentation.
  • Lead facility troubleshooting of process and utility systems and equipment, providing design recommendations, conducting and evaluating downtime analysis and extending learnings to other areas of the facility and to manufacturing sites within the CP world.
  • Develop process/liquid making equipment standards for purchases and replacement. Standards include equipment selection criteria, construction expectations, parts selection, control logic, safety features, capability (CpK) guidelines, changeover efficiency, training needs and start-up procedure.
  • Promote Technology Transfer principles; use a systematic project management approach to share technical data, performance results, product evaluations and other information completely and openly to facilitate understanding throughout the supply chain.
  • Utilize sound statistical tools and evaluation to identify equipment process capability and communicate the capability to key functions developing operating and process/formulation specifications.
  • Support Supply Chain goals through innovative input to new concepts and methods. Provide engineering knowledge supporting the development of capital estimates required to implement DIF initiatives.
  • Utilize knowledge management tools including, AAR’s, FMEA’s and COP’s to capture project learnings, best practices and risks.
  • Integrate EOHS compliance protocol into every engineering project. Follow corporate EOHS standards and guidelines; adhere to OSHA, EPA and other regulatory requirements. Continuously identify safety and environmental opportunities and develop action plans institute change.

 

What you need for this position:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required (Chemical, Mechanical preferred)
  • 2 + years of engineering experience with 2 + years of manufacturing process experience preferred.
  • Experience in an environment that encourages employee involvement and high commitment.
  • Ability to stimulate others to a high level of performance, along with strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Mutli-discipline experience to engineering projects.

 

It’s an advantage to have:

 

  • Experience in operations management
  • Experience in systems configuration and maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of SAP
