Job Purpose (Summary of what the job exists to accomplish)

  • Ensure width and depth of distribution of CP products across stores of the DT customer through implementation of CD strategies so as to achieve the sales and distribution objectives.
  • Customer Management of Modern Trade (Local & International) Accounts for the assigned territory.

Job Context & Challenges (Indicate type and complexity of the challenges)


  • Close interaction and working with DT customers (at all levels) to drive CP sales objective by mapping of SKUs at all stores, identifying any opportunities for enhancing off-takes, etc.
  • Ensure best in class in-store execution for the assigned stores /accounts.
  • Developing and coaching the team (3P) to achieve desired business results.
  • Analyse off-take data of FSS Accounts to understand consumer trends and preferences.

Internal: CDTL,CDM, DTM, AM, CDO DT IM, Customer supply chain manager and Customer Finance Manager

External: DT customers, Colgate Champions, warehouse managers and stockists (as per PJP)

Related Activities

Direct Trade management

  • Drive complete and up to date understanding of the DT customers
  • Ensure right assortment and stock weights inside the store by aligning both ARS POs and Manual POs
  • Ensure that all products are mapped with all the stores of the DT customer as per the listing done by national KAM
  • Ensure MBQs are updated/revised in the customer  master

Distribution management

  • Ensure timely delivery (i.e. supply day) of goods by stockist as per the PO specifications to DT customers by coordinating with CDO CM where needed
  • Resolve/escalate any issues in the distribution of goods to DT customers (availability with stockist, warehouses, etc.)
  • Ensure tracking of right assortment and stock weight by RE

In store management

  • Plan and execute on time and best –in class in-store execution as per the in-store grid shared by KAMs /DT HO and update HO teams periodically on the same. Explore and drive innovative in-store execution options in assigned stores.

Market Update


  • Secure and draw insights from any competitive information available in public domain regarding:
  • New products
  • Activities
  • Schemes
  • Any other developments                                                                                                
  • Conduct regular meetings with DT customers for deriving business insights

Data based working and communication



  • Utilize data to drive overall business performance (i.e. setting objectives for market visits, etc.)
  • Access store-wise performance to identify any opportunity for activations

Developing and training

  • Train the Colgate champions aggressively to communicate product benefits & features (e.g. interact with end shoppers, brand switch etc.)


  • Conduct meetings with DT customers for major activations
  • Participate in the monthly, semi-monthly and weekly meetings of the DT team


  • Compile reports and information as per requirements communicated by DTM

Relationship Building

  • Maintain collaborative relations with buyers/ category manager, stockist, warehouses, logistic managers, CDO CMs and DT IMs
  • Share success stories
  • Communicate program to build off takes
  • Mutually work towards category growth
  • Resolve issues
